Status: offline 		So I never got around to posting gearbox pics. The gearbox is made up of 15 gears and four clutches. Each track can independently be shifted proportionally from forward to neutral to reverse. What this means is that the shifting is done with clutch plates and by design is a soft gradual shift. It's not on or off. This show allow for smooth controls.

Here are all the parts in the gearbox







This is the input gear/gearbox cover



These are the shifter mechanisms. Basically the shifter is an acme screw that is coupled to a shifting gear. The gear has clutch plates and moves between a forward powered gear and a reverse powered gear.



This is the powered reverse gear assembly





This is the differential assemble that generates forward and reverse gear motion from the input gear.

Status: offline 		Just did a weigh in today and it came in at 76 lbs. This is what I expected. So I think it's safe to say that this is the worlds heaviest baja if you can still call it a baja.

To offset it I also just finished building what I believe to be the worlds lightest baja at 11lbs-14.5oz

Status: offline 		Ok guys here is a teaser video. First run proved to be promising. There are a couple of bugs that I still need to work out.

1. The receiver I used is a cheapie FM receiver. It was very susceptible to RF noise coming from the ending. This caused the servos to go crazy and made it very difficult to control. I will be upgrading the receiver to a DSM 2.4 Ghz system.

2. I didn't use loctite on the track bearings so I started to lose screws and bearing towards the end of the trial run.

Status: offline 		Nope the engine is a powerhouse and it's geared perfectly. When the servos randomly engaged the clutches the tank would rear up on it's end. Lot's of torque. It reminded me of the ripsaw videos.

You figure these motors have been used on go-peds to get a 200 lb person up to 60 mph so it shouldn't have any problems with my little tank.

Status: offline 		That's a fantastic project! You sure have done a lot of work. But how are you going to make it steer? Are putting a differential brake system with a brake on each rear "wheel"?
