Just got my RxR....ready to setup, and have some stupid newbie-type questions....if anyone can help, much appreciated.
1.  Main blade grips seem "snug", blades do not pivot as freely as the micro heli's tell you they should be, same with the tail rotor grips.  How loose should these be? (Not addressed in any of the 400 manuals)

2.  Linkages/servo centers.....should all the links be pre-adjusted, even if the servo arms aren't 90* to their cases?  Or should these be left alone till after trim flights?

3.  Lubrication - I don't see any evidence of any lubricants anywhere.  Should I go over everything with silicone or very light oil?

4.  Main drive gear mesh - should I test this before running it to find out if too loose/too tight gear mesh?  Any good test methods?

5.  Blade color striping/marking - is there any benefit of doing any marking of blades for visibility, or should the stock white just be left alone?  Any good suggestions about improving visibility?

This is my first CCPM, so any general suggestions or helpful hints would be great.
Thanks in advance to any who take the time to help.

1. Mine were pretty snug too when I first got it.  I didn't mess with the grips at first, but they do loosen over time due to usage.  Blade grip tension should be enough to keep the blades at 180 degrees from each other when holding the helicopter vertically (nose to ceiling, tail to ground), but the blades should start to slide back after you give the heli a shake.

2. Servo arms should be 90

3. A little extra lubrication can't hurt.  I lubricated my belt a little cuz it looked a bit dry when I first got it.

4.  There's a paper test method on one of the forums you might wana look up.  Basically, if I remember right, you want the teeth to make that zigzag pattern, but you don't want them to tear any holes through the paper.  If there are holes, your gears are too tight together.

5.  Blade striping helps to the extent that they increase the visibility of the perimeter of the rotor.  I suppose they can help with indicating the attitude of the helicopter, but once the heli is out far enough you won't really be able to tell colors apart too well when they're spinning that fast (different color on top than on bottom - that's how I do it anyway).  I love to stripe my blades, but that's just because I can't stand plain white blades; they're so bland.  Using some brightly colored permanent markers really adds to the aesthetics of the heli.  Basically, blade stripes are just really flippin cool (especially if you get both the main and tail rotors).

Assuming you've been flying yours for a bit....what things have you had to "tweak" ?  Any areas or items that have problems?  Gyro issues?
After doing initial setup - how well does it fly?  Stability?  Hover? Drift?

I've had mine since this past December. So far, I would say that the heli is extremely stable, especially when you lower the dual rates (I have mine up though, because I like a sensitive heli). I upgraded the main rotor to the metal head from the HK450 from Hobby King - it was under $30. Also get a 25C battery; don't bother with a lower C rating. My only real issue with the Axe is that I've always had a few issues with the piro rate, especially the left piro rate. It's a gyro issue, but Helimax is currently helping me out with that problem. Something to look for immediately would be to find the gyro centering pot and adjust it properly, because mine was waaay off and was partly responsible for my issues with the piros.

Would anyone care to share their settings for the Axe 400 on a DX6i? I KNOW at least one of you has to have this combo, and I'll be eternally grateful if you can help me out! (Semi-noob here).

I'd like to help you out, but I'm not really sure as to what you need.  Are you just looking for the radio configuration, or are you experiencing a binding problem, or is it something else?

Hi Marcus,

If you bought your helicopter new in the box, then the radio should be properly configured and should be ready for your first flight (given that you have batteries, of course).  I posted the swash and servo settings in a reply to another of your posts, so that can get you started, and maybe you can compare those with what is currently in your radio to see if you even need to change anything (my swash settings might be slightly different, because I changed them at some point - can't remember if it was before I originally posted that or not...)  I also listed the manuals, in case you don't have them.  Anyway, I would list my personal configurations for all the radio's parameters, but I don't have time tonight.  I can do that tomorrow.  If I forget, send me a message and I'll post them.

Well, I don't think I really understand what you are trying to tell me.  Would it be possible for you to post a video on youtube?  That way, you can show me the problem.

I'm  fairly new to the rc heli world and i just purchased the HELI-MAX AXE 100 FIX PITCH and the AXE 100 CP. My most frustrating problem im experences is, in all the lecture I've read,  concerning  the Anyklink says all you have to do is plug the ANYLINK Tx and turn on the heli's, hold down a bottom on the Rtx, release it and it will go into binding mode, never having to do it again. It also states that all the channels map would be the same as if you were not using will the AL, and matching the same as if you were using a regular D6i.

It took for ever to get it to bind, and when it was bind, the servos were mapping all over the place but then only one or three would work and they were going all different directions.  To make thing worst, I have spent hours, days looking for a solution, coming up nothing. So  If anyone can give me some ideas, or direct me to the right place to get it worked out, I would GREATLY appreciate edit.

Thanks,
Macymastif
