Mike

I'm having problems with my new Hitec Eclipse Spectrum TX.

Both my airplanes have Airtronics receivers and never have given me problems. Both were flown a couple dozen times each. The only change was the new transimitter.

I made sure the transmitter was on the proper shift, the correct channel, etc. The TX and RX batteries were charged appropriately. I range checked before I flew...it went well also.

The plane flew flawlessly as always...I was very happy with my new tranmitter...then after about 10 minutes, all heck broke loose.

Today, I rechecked the TX with the second airplane. It also range checked well. But here's the catch...if I leave the TX and RX on, after about ten minutes, the plane starts glitching badly. If I turn off the system, then turn it right back on, it continues to glitch. If I turn off the system for a while then it seems to work fine again for about ten minutes, then all heck breaks loose again.

The spectrum module feels very warm, almost hot to touch at this point.

It would be different if this happend with one plane and not the other, but it's happening with both. I've never even had a single hiccup aout of either of my RXs. Something isn't right with the TX...any thoughts?
Gordon

Sorry for the problem. Some of the older Airtronics receivers don't like the Spectra as tuned from the factory. If you send it in with one of the receivers we can retune the Spectra module so they will work fine.

I have read of the same problem with aleast one other person besides the one above. I myself had the same thing happen luckily mine was on the ground but just like the other two mine worked fine for about 5-10 min, but the theory about the Airtronics RX not likeng the Spectra doesn't hold water because it happened to me with the new Hitec QPCM RX.

Mike

I sent you a PM about this issue.
After receiving my TX back from Hitec...I had the same problem with my new Hitec Slim RX.

The issue isn't compatibility with Airtronics RX...it's something else.

Hope you guys can troubleshoot and figure out what it is.

Thanks
Gordon

Gordon, I sent Mike and Tony both an e-mail with a copy of your e-mails attached hopefully they will get our problems sorted out. I haven't received mine back yet so I don't know if they still have it at the shop or if it is in the mail on the way back to me.

Kevin

It took about ten days after Hitec received my TX before they looked at it (the first time). I'm hoping it will go a little quicker the second time around. They actually took read-outs of different parts of the system a differnt intervals, to see why it works and then doesn't. The read-outs all worked perfectely so they sent it back.

For this second look, I sugessted they my not know what to look for. I asked them to NOT send back the TX unless they find the bug. If they can't duplicate are isolate the proplem, I hope they'll simply send a whole new TX.

I recommend you call them and talk to Tony...to see if they found a bug. Otherwise, you may get a "good read' at the shop and get it sent back with no adjustments.

The good news is, there seems to be plenty of people who are very happy with this TX. I liked they way it felt for my one and only, short ten minute flight...I hope it gets resolved.

Gtalbot, I just got home and found two Hitec Ecipse7 QPCM w/ Spectra on my front porch. One was the one I sent back to Hitec (repaired and back already Kudos to Hitec and Mike Mayberry). I have not checked out the radio yet but they said it was a cold solder connection in the Spectra module which caused the problem.

The second radio was from the company I purchased the radio from in the first place. I sent them an e-mail to let them know there was a problem, I didn't exect them to do anything just figured I had to deal with the warranty. The company is called "DEE TEE ENTEPRISES". I sent them an e-mail on a Sunday and sent the radio off to Hitec on the next day (Monday morning). On Monday afternoon I received an e-mail from Dennis at DEE TEE ENTERPRISES advising me they had already made arrangements with their supplier to send me out a NEW RADIO, RX and SPECTRA!! The new radio was sent out to me even before I sent back the defective one. I told Dennis at DEE TEE I had already sent the defective radio off to Hitec, he told me they would send me out another one anyway and even reimbursed me for my shipping cost to Hitec!!

I cannot say enough about this company or its service, I have never dealt with a company this good for RC equipment or anything else for that matter. My initial order was at a great price under $300.00 shipped and I got it fast. I know if I would have purchased from one of the big mail order companies I would have never gotten service like this. If anyone is in the market for a new Hitec radio I highly recommend this website:
