Any relatively hard material such as plastic, aircraft plywood, formica and even thin metals.

Hope this is the answer you were looking for.

Enjoy fly'in, John

What is formica? I head about formica being used for foam wing core template making. Don't carpenters use this stuff?
Thanks - Brian

Hi Brian, formica is the material that is used to make counter tops with, such as in the kitchen and bathrooms. It is a veneer sheet that is glued to the wood.
Available in sheets which is cut to size. contact a cabnet maker in your area and you may be able to get scrapes for little or no cost.

Good luck and keep fly'in, John

A really good material to work with is called "See Temp".
I have used it for many years, and it is easy to make templates with it. All you have to do is place it over the part to be traced, follow the outline with a pen or pencil, and score the line with a razor knife. Then simply flex the See Temp at the score, and it snaps clean.
It's available in sheets about 22" x 51" for around $ 5.00, with discounts on larger quantities.
A tip: Store it flat at all times, or it can curl, or assume the shape it is stored in.
