Not trying to get involved here as the last few posts really seem to have said it all. Badazzmax, Aussiesteve and others certainly have had their say, what a shame Henry hasn't had the gall to stand up and have his say.

I'm not going to get mixed into the debate over JC engines or the parts or photos. There are plenty others who will undoubtedly put in their 2c worth there.

I have however had some personal dealings with Tom of Plane Addicts and have learnt that he certainly is a standup guy who will do his best to look after his customers.
Whether Plane Addicts get added to an already long list of dealers scr*wed by Kevin of JC Engines remains to be seen but I sincerely hope not.
Tom is a decent bloke who deserves better

I saw the Hostetler Cessna at the Toledo show. It's a beauty. It will take some work to get close to the masters copy. You'll have something to be proud of when you're done.

Mate, if I live long enough to finish the project!!!
I have already bought the engines for it. Ralph supplied me two of his G62 lite and we reversed one (for counter-rotating props)
At the moment, everything is at a stop because since December, I ahve been waiting for Sierra to finish my retracts (paid for them a month ago and still nothing and no response to my e-mails) but I'm sure they come good one day

Having seen my G62 Lite engines from Ralph, I wouldn't hesitate getting more of his engines or recommend them to basically anyone.
Beautiful workmanship!

What do the ei 38's end up weighing all ready to go? And how much more geety up do they have over the stock versions? I have never owned a zenoah but, other than the 20 I havent ever heard anything bad about them other than the weight.

Ok Guys need some help.

YD-A 56 22 X 8 xsor, std. pump/gas and a good ashless oil, @50/1 after 1 1/2 gal engine was turning 69 + to 7k. Had a plug go bad bot a big deal but then it would not turn over 6,ooo with the cowl on and only 6300 with the cowl off. This engine is one from Henary and was supposedly built in OZ, I am hopping it is not a bad engine, Now one of our club gasser guys said I need to run a tube from the carbpump blate in to the fuss so the pump only see's static pressure, and this did solve a problem with one of my G-62's, So I put in the tube and while I had the back off of the carb checked the screen and found a Vary small bit of fuzz cleaned it reassembled, did not take the outher side off the carb, Put the engine back on the bird, set up for test run droped prop size to a 20 X 8 and still will only get 63/6400 with or with out the cowl, Engine has a good idle 1700, transition is good just no top end, it does surge a vary slight bit at the top end (hand held tach shows 50 RPM) Tweeked the low needle !/8 turn lean then the hi the same, nothing so went rich 1/8 turn on the low and then on the hi still nothing BTW I did take tach reading at each point. engine has good compression hot or cold.

So now one of the 3Dguys is saying it is the ing/module, but it does not miss a beat, don't mind picking up a new module if that is the problem,

So any suggestions are appreciated

Thanks in advance Bob T

If it ran good befour the plug went bad and then after changing the plug it would not run the same RPM I would try another plug. Also check the plug gap. And to be sure I would check the timing while at it.

Carb kit and make sure the galleries are well cleaned. Sometimes there can be a buildup that isn't easily visible to the naked eye.

Possibly a Reed on its way out. I saw a post about how the carb bolts can be overtightened and cause the reed seal to warp.

Otherwise, It only leaves an air leak or an ignition. I have heard of air leaks through the bearings on some enignes. is it weeping any oil at the front of the engine?

Get rid of the "Y" in the name and it will all be good

Why would they need working on already?
Pretty much any engine shop can work on them. There is only a handful of parts to them with the bits that wear out being readily available from a number of places.

If I was Stateside, I would be inclined to use someone like RC Ignitions,  RCExtremepower or Valleyview depending on where I was located. As those companies have all seen some of the best quality products and have proven track records in enigne repairs. It would cost a fee for them to look it over but it would be well worth it as they would be more likely to easily spot items that could be affecting performance or reliability.

I use my local Stihl Dealer here for similar reasons. Great guys who really know their engines. They are also involved in Karting which helps.

Not saying the JC's are duds but there are better out there too.

Personally, I can vouch for the lightened Zenoah's from Ralph and Milton.
I have two of them and must say the workmanship on those engines is outstanding!
I picked them on advice from someone far more experienced than myself based on their reliability, because they are going into a 133" Cessna 421 twin I'm in the process of building.
You guys in the States are lucky to have local access to those guys

Well as stated in this forum earlier....parts are hard to get from JC. Also the version 1 of this engine had known problems from the factory. I got this engine before I knew about the problems. Henry at RC Aero was replacing them with the Evo 2. As I didn't purchase the first engine from him I couldn't get in on the replacement program. The second engine (the Evo 2) came from Henry. But he went out of business. And as the 28cc is a discontinued product, where will the parts come from?

Just wondering, I have $450.00 invested in these engines. I feel like a fool for purchasing them.

Bearings, rings and pistons are available off the shelf through bearing suppliers or saw shops.
As Ropomond alluded to - Reeds can be obtained from your local kart shop or a decent cycle shop. (It is amazing just what those kart boys can do). The assembly is a common one used on some "Pit bikes" etc. (husqvarna was an original by memory).

Cranks - DLE 30 can be made to fit, so can a Zenoah crank for the "V1" (I don't remember which one as I don't have the paperwork here but a customer of mine did both those mods to his engines and sent me the info on what he did). they are also an off the shelf crank used in a lot of brands of engine.

Cylinders are also off the shelf parts. but there are several brands of cylinders (Including Zenoah) that will fit straight on and improve the overall quality by a lot.

If you break a crankcase, chances are the repair bill won't be worth spending the money and you will be better off replacing the entire item.
