Ron,

No problem, they are yours, I am going to the PO later today and will send them along. No need to pay me for them .. they are just sitting around, I'd love to see someone flying them. If you want to do a good turn, do something for one of the young flyers at your field .. that's more than enough to make me smile.

I sent along two of the older tires, 7" dia, and one of the 7" Sullivans I had. I don't know if I ever had its mate or not, but still thought you'd like to see it. I am mostly doing jets now, and I don't even want to think about the size of a jet that would require a 7" tire!

Dave

HELLO Dave

Well I want to thank you for the tires. As far as the kids, had one from Utah visiting some friends
last summer he spent his whole week vacation in my shop. Had him on the simulator, working a Tx./plane in the shop took
him to the field put up a 8' Telemaster had him do circles and figure 8's and hold altitude which he did, almost let him land.
Gave him a Sig Kadet Senior, JR 4 ch. w/servo's etc. and a flight box with all the goodies when he left, all stuff I won't
be using.

There is a single mom in town has a 9 yr. old son gave her an old pattern plane to hang in his room.
She's bringing him out soon so may have a tag along this summer we will see. Like you say it is sure worth it to see their
happiness never know may be what keeps them in the right direction.

Well thanks again Dave try and keep in touch.
Best Ron

Ron,

That is outstanding!

So many of us got started, more years ago than we'd like to admit (!), with generous help from the "old guys" of the time. Now that that's us, it's good be able to do some give-back. There are way too few kids getting into our hobby these days...

Dave

Hi Ron, I am over in Walla Walla and am cleaning up a 10 year old stearman that was finished but never flown. I started off thinking I was going to put my radial on it but am leaning towards a zdz160. I bet the 106 would fly it fine. Unless you are doing vertical climb outs I bet that there wouldnt' be that much difference in straight and level performance. Looks like you are doing a great job! I debated building one vs buying one and luckily got a good deal on a built one. If I was building one I think that I would put long wing tubes in the wings and make the flying wires functional but not necessary..

Fiberglass specialties used to have all of the fairings, boot, windshields etc., I believe that they still have them.
