Status: offline 		A 2 part question for you.....What is considered the world's most aerobatic aircraft?? (meaning one piloted by a human) And what is considered the world's most aerobatic r/c model?? By aerobatic I'm refering to roll rate, pitch changes etc. I would tend to think the Sukhoi Su-31 would probably be the most aerobatic regular aircraft in the world, but maybe there is another model more aerobatic. I would also assume the r/c model of the Sukhoi would be in the running for the most aerobatic. Any input appreciated.

Status: offline 		Its true that the sukhoi is a very agile aircraft , both in full and scale size , I dont think that the question can be answered as asked , since all aircraft have there own particular limitations ,

taking the top three IMHO sukhoi, extra 300, and the Cap , it is possible that anyone of them , determined by variations in pilot skill, conditions and numerous other variables , any one could be considered the most aerobatic, at any given time

Status: offline 		I Dont know if you have ever seen Sean Tucker fly, but his Challenger bipe has been probably the most aerobatic I have seen. Sean had it custom built to his specifications because there was no production aircraft available at the time that would handle some of the maneuvers he does in his routine. I know for a fact that several of his maneuvers stress him and his aircraft all the way up to 11 Gs positive, and 9 negative. He is now flying a new Zivco Edge 540, although I havent seen him fly his routine with it yet. As far as "production" aircraft go, The Zivco Edge, the Extra, and the Suhkoi are at the top of the heap right now, followed by the ever popular CAP. The Edge, however, outperforms them all presently. When you start talking about RC aircraft, I think pilot skill has more to do with it than the model type.

Status: offline 		Full scale capabilities are debatable and impossible to truly determine. The "most aerobatic" RC aircraft would be some of those ugly "Fun-Fly" planes, but again, determining which would be impossible.

Many of them are capable of nearly looping within their own length, some can do 3 to 4 rolls in ONE second, unlimited vertical, CLIMB while doing inverted flat spins. Most of these manuevers would kill a real pilot.

Status: offline 		I think it has more to do with a pilot than the plane. Who is the craziest. You can put a great pilot in an edge 540 or sukoi and it will be amazing. Put a minimal pilot in it and it is a boring plane. Same with RC. Some guys can make a trainer do things most guys can't make an aerobatic plane do.

Status: offline 		You are correct about pilot skill level having a lot to do with it. Full scale aerobatic aircraft are inherently unstable. You cant just go jump in one and go off on a long cross country unless you know what you are doing. You cant just trim one up like a Cessna and fly it hands off, it just wont happen. They are very hands on, seat of the pants aircraft, and must be flown that way. As far as RC goes, it is hard, very hard to compare the two. I know guys who fly Sticks that can shame some guys who have Edges, Suhkois, and Extras. That is where the pilot skill comes in.

Status: offline 		Of course pilot skill plays a major role, BUT, an expert pilot flying a trainer will NOT be able to perform the same aerobatics as that expert pilot with a more aerobatic aircraft. (And after all, that was the question.)

In the case of RC the more aerobatic aircraft being some form of fun fly plane, hands down.

Now, choosing the most aerobatic fun fly is nearly impossible, as is choosing the most aerobatic full scale.

Status: offline 		this guy has an Edge 540 with a modified "extra-hard-kick" tail that lets him do pretty awesome stuff. he puts a difficult show on Ms. Wagstaff and what was his name?...oh ya, sean tucker
this guy hit 11.4 g's and his 540 landed on one piece (pretty incredible for a Very little and OVERPOWERED plane, huh?
