I appeciate everyone's feedback - thank you very much.

So per Tomas, they did shorten the gear on the new red and white T-28. I really don't know if the yellow one is affected, sorry. If you get the new ESM gear you will be ok, but if you opt for the Sierra Gear, you'll have some work to do see below.

After thinking about this, I opted to keep my gear at their original length (for sake of prop clearance). The fix was very "simple." I simply moved the gear out 0.40 (10mm). The bracing for the gear extends beyound this point, but you have to extend the plywood pad for the landing gear another 0.400 inches. Of course, the new style gear doors are too short now, but they are too are simple to "fix."

Evening Every one.....i am trying to figure out what scale cockpit i want to go with...has anyone thought or tryed the one from Magnum RC..it was made for the KMP Sig series two seat T-28...want to see if it will fit witth minimal work and cutting.

Can someone who has the Sierra Gear in your T-28 please send me a couple of good pics of the gear in the up position and the down position. I'm after deal on the interfacing of the gear doors, and how you linked the gear door to the strut.

My issue is that gear door lays down, but I’m afraid the door will be "ripped" off as the mechanism is not keeping the end of the door pulled down. Am I missing something, or is that "the way it is."

If you go back some pages you will find some good info about the gear doors.
I have Sierra on mine as well and I have a similar set up as yours.
To keep my door nice and tight I had to play with the attachment to the strut up or down until I found the right geometry to keep the door tightly closed.
It needs to be tight otherwise it will interfere with your flight and possibly get ripped off.

Let me know if you find your info in the prior pages, if not I will post some pics of my set up here.

Thanks guys. I finally got my engine tuned correctly so I was able to fly 4 times that day.

As for the pilots, one is a 12" gi joe and the other is a 12" Dragon pilot.

This is the second flight with my ESM T28, unfortunateky without pilots. Also some geardoors to be installed.
DLA 32 is for me more than enough power and this engine have only been running for 5-10 minutes.
I have no lead upfront but a cannister fitted inside the fuselage with own silversoldered adapter. The servoes are all moved upfront

Anyone with a good suggestion where to buy jet pilots that fits the original cockpit. This is a everyday plane and I do not intend to install any full cockpit.

eBay is good place to start to find you pilot.
I got mine there at a reasonable price.

ebay is good, but I am struggling finding the correct size for this plane with standard cockpit....

And thanks! The model is a smooth flyer. I think mine is on the absolute aft CG so have to adjust the elevator throw and add some more expo.

My pilots are 12" pilots that fit in the stock cockpit. They have no legs below the knees. They are the correct representation of a scale size pilot.

Hello All:
Thanks to all that helped me along. I've completed my build and will likely madien her Saturday (weather willing).

The plane has the following:
Saito 4-Stroke Twin Cyclinder 57CC gasser
Custom Scale exhaust
Scale cockpit by Ty Planes
Scale Pilots by TwinTurboZ (rcuniverse seller - highly recommended)
Sierra Gear with Brakes (new T-28s have to be modified to fit the Sierra Gear)
Jet-tronics "solid-state" brake valve and gear valve (I'm a big fan - keeps everything clean and simple)
That's about all that notable.

Oh, final weight 23.6lbs

Hi Paul:

I actually made the headers from 5/8 and 3/8 thin wall stainless in my fab shop. I flaired the ends somewhat so that black flex tubes from Saito would just fit. They were pretty easy to make since I opted for stainless. Stainless is much easier to work with Al.

Never tried it. Probably you can but I don't know how!
I usually click on the "gallery" on the top of the page and click on the picture that I am interested in to go directly to that page to retrieve the information I need.

Hi, I am planning to install a Zanoah g 38 engine on my new ESM T 28 Trojan, Would it be enough power???? What about balance ??? the Zenoah engines are heavy.
Will it be necessary to cut the cowl sides?????

See my post a few lines above I would not worry about the motor's weight. I put a Saito 57CC Twin in mine and through moving the battery pack I was able to get the CG perfect. I didn't have to add ANY weight to the tail (or the nose). I will say, that i mounted the air tank just behind the wing mounting wing nuts. This is the only "weight" I have in the plane's tail.
