When you are standing in front of the plane the prop turns anti-clockwise, ie the top blade goes to the left.

Ummm, yes it does matter unless you want your plane to go backwards..... Generally, engines don't like to run backwards...

Besides the engine turning backwards, the prop will also be backwards. It's not going to be pulling much of anything backwards...

Engine goes counter-clockwise looking from the front and clockwise looking from the fuselage.

You'l get your fair share of answers on this one. CCW is correct. Imagine a screw being driven into a piece of wood. The prop is nothing more than a screw drilling into the air with the blade pitches being like threads on a screw. Run the engine counter clockwise (from in front of the plane). Understanding how a screw works, you'll also be able to see that the prop isn't installed backward.

Just to get the terminology right, the standard tractor prop is a right hand rotation. This is based on the position of the pilot, seated in the cockpit. (real or imaginary) and looking ahead at the top blade of the prop. If it goes to the right he is in business. That is why pusher props are called left hand props.
