Status: offline 		Subject pretty much says it all. I see a wide price difference, and I was wondering what you get for your money.

Also, since we're on the subject, anyone have any good servo recommendations. I've got a XXX Kinwald and just bought a novak brushless SS motor for it.

Status: offline 		the higher priced survos are metal gears so it wont break so easy and there a 2 different kinds one is high tourq so you can turn quicker and the other is so you wheels turn further

Status: offline 		well actually there is only one kind of servo but they have diff. features high torque is faster but can also be set to go furhter with st epa. for your buggy just use a stock servo suck as the futaba s3003. I have one and its still going strong!

Status: offline 		You can start with a futaba 3003, it will be fine for a while. Rebuild kits are cheap. If you plan to race with this XXX, get a better servo. It doesn't have to be a metal gear but at least ball bearing type. They are usually around 25.00 to 40.00. THis will save you in rebuilding your servo at the track.

Status: offline 		Starting with a starter servo is the best way to go. If it breaks the rebuilts do cost much. You can even up grade to a bearing......
I am long ago high end servo user. I do not own a few starter servos in my collection.

Status: offline 		Yes, there's a huge price range in servos going from $9 to $150. Metal gear, high torque, high speed, digital, 1/4 scale, micro, etc. For your XXX you'll be fine with a standard S3003 or JR Z270 but a high speed servo like a Hitec HS-605BB or HS-625MG will be better. I use an ancient JR NES-505 (bout 15 years old) servo in my XX4 and it's plentyful.

Status: offline 		For the XXX I would recommend the Hitec HS 625 mg. It is around $40 and for a buggy it should be fine for beginner. If you go with standard servo and race, you will most likelystrip the gears repeatedly and end up buying $40 worth of servos anyway. That happened to me till I got a decent servo.

Hitec is always a great starter servo.............
