i assume that they are working as well on the modification of the existing ones to convert them to kero start....i hope.
mine works flawless and as mentioned on previous pages a hell of a power for 8kg turbine.
Barry or Todd i quess will let us now asap on this thread.

RAPPTOR -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 1:13 AM)

Start Parameters with the Flightworks pump should be:

Pump Start Point: Auto +4
Pump Start Ramp: 013 K80E .-PUMP RAMPS LIKE 1 THRU 4. WITCH IS MOR AGGESIVE? LOWER NUMBER ,OR HIGER?WHAT IS BEST ?
Glow: 32 (good start point)
Gas: 50%(good start point)
Starter Power @ Ignition: 065
Ignition Max RPM: 4K
Ignition Min RPM: 2K
Preheat: 2.0s
RPM Gas off: 15K
Starter Power @ Preheat: 070
RPM 100% Starter Power: 25K
RPM Starter Off: 28K
RPM Reconnect: 25K
Start Mode: Auto-Gas

These settings should solve your ramp issues.

marquisvns -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 1:52 AM)

decrease Auto+4 to Auto+3 or +2
also decrease start ramp, try 9 or 6 or 4 or even 3 (the higher the number the more aggressive from the pump)

not as relevant to your over temp issue but for the sake of longevity of plug, consider decreasing glow setting to 25
Also consider decrease start gas down to 35%, K-80 is pretty efficient to get started

not knowing what's going on with your engine, nor at what phase it over temped, the above should help

good luck,
barry

RAPPTOR -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 10:44 AM)

[:D]Over temp is around, 28000 to 34000 rpm. { only two times} Pump reading is 65 to 70. Stays there a long time .Im on auto 1. ramp is 003. Start gas 50.Can the starter settings being wrong. put drag on the rotor?? Runs cool 455 at 45000.. Rotor turns a little snug, untill full cool down.Thanks [;)]

Rush! -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 11:18 AM)

what pump are you using?  my friend had a case where the stock pump was misbehaving causing wet starts resulting in overtemps.

We're hoping the new FW200C pump will fix it :D

RAPPTOR -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 12:58 PM)

[:D]Hi. thanks for info. I have the new pump. 200c flighteck. I think it is taking to long to fuel ramp up.It stays at 30000 for to long.. Not enough air to kool at that rpm.New pump is very good. [;)]

lov2flyrc -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/4/2010 1:18 PM)

First thing I would check is the Thermocouple.... They do shift during transit and can get pushed into the nozzle too far. Check to make sure the tip of the Thermocouple is not deeper than about 2-3mm
I run the settings posted on most of the engines we test here with perfect performance. I am a bit concerned when you state the rotor is stiff till the engine cools. This is not normal and could relate to the temp issues. Please check the T/C depth and let us no if this resolves the problem

RAPPTOR -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/7/2010 8:03 PM)

[:D]Nice throttle curve.. How did you set up your radio.? My futaba at 110 atv is not to good. Like haveing a toggle switch!!

marquisvns -> RE: KingTech K-80 (12/7/2010 8:40 PM)

Hi Ralph,

If the throttle feels like a "toggle switch" - plug in your GSU and look into "RUN" menu, you might have left it on FULL EXPO, please dial it down to HALF EXPO or LINEAR. I find one would get a lot more response from 0 to say 25% if set at LINEAR.

Regards,
Barry

[:D]Hi. what is T/C depth? [8|] DA,, THERMO COUPLER>>[;)]

Look at what is here:

The 1st Kerosene start KingTech in the United States, and I have a pair of them for my SU-27. Come see the SU-27 and the twin K-80s at Florida Jets and Top Gun 2010. This turbine is sweet! Started 3 times, no problems, no issues! Top Notch.
