When are they going to (finally) fix the fuel delivery system on the .91FX? I noticed that the price went up $10.00 a while back but the engine still has the same problems.

buy the new O ring for about 2 bucks and heat shrink some tubing over the needle valve. I had the bubble problem when new but those 2 things have solved my problems. Been running great for about a year

433rd,
That carb has been with us for 20 years without a problem; however, for some reason on some 91FXs it's had a hard time so we just replce the o-ring.

Beyond that there are 2 things we see that cause problems:

wrong mufflers -- lots of people are trying to use 61 sized mufflers, take the center out of the 61 muffler, etc. the increased muffler pressure is causing LOTS of problems, including fuel delivery.

overpropp'd -- the Japanese fly a very different style than US pilots and as such prop VERY differently from us.

These are our prop recommendations:

Prop Size RPM
13x6 12,500
13x8 10,400 using a 13x8 prop,
13x10 9,500 Hobby Services tached this
14x6 10,900 engine at 11,300 rpm
14x8 9,500 6-24-99
14x10 8,400
15x6 10,200

Mine run great. Based on the pressure and vacumn tests I did I believe in most cases the bubbles are vaporized ahlcohol.

I have had one on a 4*60 for over a year and I have only had to adjust the needle 2 times(rainy weather). This engine runs great, a real stump puller! I love mine.....
I run 15% Cool Power and a M/A 14x7 3 blade and I still have the same glow plug in it that came with the engine! If I ever wear this one out, I'll buy another one the next day!

I have one in my Extra 300 and it runs like a dream. Starts right up and no problems other than too much power!

The carb is not the problem. This engine has been beat to death on various boards over the last 2 years. I myself had 2 91FX's in a month a couple years ago. You get rid of the remote system and it will be fine. I did not feel like doing this and returned them for a 1.08. Most reliable engine I ever used and now have 2 of them.
Heat shrink, O-rings, props, muffler, this and that. The engine should be ready to go without all these barnyard modifications. OS needs to wake up. I have been on these boards for 3 years now. OS is one of the most reliable engines around. I have several of various sizes. I have not seen a 91FX run right here since they came out. They all get returned. Everything above and below it are fine even with remotes! There is something wrong with them. I can tune any 2 stroker to run like a swiss watch except that thing.
OS is not listening. Just like the big Super Tigers. Again, I have 2 3250's, Midrange transition is the problem. The recommended improvements are as follows, Larger fuel line all around, hotter plugs, drill clunk, pump, fuel, plug a muffler stack, This is alot of work. I agree this all could improve an engines performance but does not solve the problem at hand. A simple carb change took care of the whole thing-twice. I run a Perry on one and a 7D on the other. It is this simple, no other modifications.
ST honchos will not admit a problem with their carbs and think we are stupid enough to swallow this. Smartest thing they could do is make a deal with Perry and start selling these things like hotcakes. These big cats are one honking engine when it runs right.
Manufacturers need to start lisitening

Well, I have to disagree at least from my own personal experience with my .91fx. I'm sure as with any car or item made there will be problems with some units that come out of production from time to time and this can happen in any manufacturing process.

As for my motor...I just ran my .91fx today which sat for around 2 months and loaded with after run and hand flipped it and it started and ran perfect within 2 minutes. Beautiful idle and roaring power on top end...I fly my Extra at 1/2 throttle and really could not ask for anything more. Each flight (after the first where I blew out the after run) the motor starts in one or two flips and is awesome. Just my personal experience with my first .91fx.
