Status: offline 		The C&H universal type hose clamp sensor mount works on all engnes with round crankcases behind the hub...The magnet locations vary greatly, so there is no way to make a sensor mount that works with engines that have square or flat surfaces to mount the stock sensor...
Kinda makes one think it might be a way to force purchasers to use only high priced factory ignitions...$200 + for an ignition is ridiculous....Any ignition worth it's salt should be warranteed for at least 2 years...You could replace a whole lot of ignitions for $200 and still be ahead of the game...Unless some dope can't read instructions and uses the wrong voltage... What do people not understand about 6.0000000 ?

Status: offline 		Thanks. I think I'll try the HK Hall sensor when I get it. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to look at an ignition from CH Ignitions. It's a pity CH does not handle inquiries and sales online. I assume they are doing pretty well with their US customer base.

We tried online and too many people ordered the wrong. That caused 2x as much work to get the what they needed. We like to talk to customers so we can get them the right stuff the first time.
What part do you send out when some one order a "cap for the small 14mm plug"???

Status: offline 		Would you recommend the FG-14 for a .46 sized drop-in replacement? I'm building a Baron that is designed to run on electrics or twin .46 engines. I started down the electric path, but the battery cost, weight and recharge time is going to kill me. I thought about putting a pair if FG-14's in it. I think the 20's may be too big.

Status: offline 		actually, it will be over a pound lighter with these engines (excluding fuel) than it would be with the electric motors and batteries... I would need (2) 5S-5000 batteries for a decent flight time. Those, combined with the motors, get pretty heavy.

About the "fast" part.. I'll probably go with 3-blade props to get a little more torque and less speed.

Status: offline 		my cap keeps slipping off the spark plug in flight. I used the wire clip that came with the engine but that does nothing to stop the cap slipping off the spark plug. anyone else have this problem?

Bill won't like me saying this, (too much work for what he can sell them for) but the C&H push and turn plug cap is VERY good..But must be used with a Rimfire or Chinese clone 1/4-32 spark plug....
The Saito spark plug has a groove around the bottom that the spring fits into...I have seen only 1 Saito ignition, so keep this in mind....Best setup would be a complete RC EXL ignition, sensor and all....The hub is keyed. Only way to use the stock flat sensor mount is move the magnet in the hub...Don't know if Bill is working on a replacement...

Bill has already been there and done that. He developed complete kits for all the Saito gas engines last year this time. He devised a sensor mount that works for all four engines and is lower profile than even the FG-14 sensor.  The sensor mounts with the stock sensor mounting screws and places the pick up at the the 28 degree point. His system sells for less than half what the complete Saito system does. If you blow a sensor because the plug comes off, a new one is less than $5.

It seems that you can't buy a replacement sensor for the DFG-14 , but have to buy the whole ignition unit (cost of $221). Pete from HH previously said he could send me an older unit/cable, but never came through.

I don't want to pay $221 just for the sensor, nor do I want to wait another 4 months for the part to become available. Can anyone advise if I can just buy a different/cheaper ignition unit? I recently bought a Chinese (RCG) 26cc two stroke and am thinking that perhaps I can just use this ignition system on the Saito? The sensor unit will certainly fit onto the Saito (however the connection to the ignition module is different to the Saito making it difficult to just use the sensor) although the spark plug cap is too big (I can probably modify this). I ask because a replacement chinese ignition system is only $26 with fast delivery.

Status: online 		The manual says the FG-14 and FG-20 come with a mount but there is nothing on the Horizon web site that says they come with a mount

The price of the FG-14 mount is $27.23 and it weighs 4.4 oz but I've never seen a picutre of it on the horizon site.

I have two FG-20's and they didn't come with a mount. but my FG-36 did.
