Smithcreek,

Any more updates on your Acroduster? I watched your maiden wow. I can see that it was a scary situation. The earlier video looked like it was flying much better. Certainly a beautiful airplane!!

I will post another video soon. I've put a dozen or so flights on it and I'm very happy and getting comfortable flying it. I'll let the video do the talking and show how it flies. I've decided to continue to develop the design and make it my main plane for the foreseeable future. I will be starting the redesign very soon with the main goal of shedding some weight. It flies very well at it's current weight, I'm looking forward to flying it after dropping 4 lbs. The new design will have two panels for each wing and the frame will be mainly stick built instead of lite-ply box. Since the changes will mainly be structural, nothing significant will change in the aerodynamic part of the design, I will publish the plans as soon as I am done. So if anyone is interested in building they will not have to wait for me to finish another one.

Awesome! I will be looking for the video. I have a SuperTigre 3000 that I would like to install in it. So shaving 4lbs would be terrific!

Still hoping to get a little video. Tried to get some last week, but as my friend on the camera said "man, I suck at this". After watching a 7 minute clip with about 30 seconds of airplane I told him he was right. Anyway, here's a couple takeoffs and landings.

I bought plans for the real plane and have started "Acroduster Too, Version 2.0" I'll start a new thread once I get a little more done. It will be 100% scale as far as all the dimensions go, or as close as I can get and the goal is to weigh 18 lb. If I can get this next one flying like I want at the weight I want I'll do another one with all the scale bells and whilstles, but that's a couple years off at this point.

The first version is as scale as I could get with just some crappy 3-views, pictures and a lot of guessing. Nothing major will change, the wingspan, fuse length will be virtually identical, tailfeathers almost the same, just lots of small details like exact placement of wings and stab, exact width of fuse at different points, exact stagger, exact airfoil, etc. Surprising how many things came pretty darn close on the first with all the guessing I did.

Your original is great. The only reason I want one more scale is I like to go to scale contests, so I like the guts to be scale like if you peered into the cockpit. I would still love to have the one you got. I am no scale master either; more of a frame of mind than anything.

I concur with TFF, the original is great. I watched the last video and it flies great. I like the slow docile flight characteristics. It reminds me of a Waco Bipe or a Super Stearman, certainly not a Pitts. Scale aircraft are great. So I am looking forward to the next one.

Thanks, I wasn't fishing for compliments, but I'll take them any way I can get them! It's quite aerobatic also, I'm hoping the next version with a little less heft will be even more so.

Hi smithcreek,

Can you sell Acroduster's blueprints for CAD (laser cut)?

I've been posting the re-design of the Acroduster Too over on RC Scalebuilder forum, the picture below is what I've got so far. If you are interested check out the scratch build section there. I bought a set of plans for the real plane from Aircraft Spruce and I'm making this one as accurate to scale as possible. I hope to have the new plans done by the end of December and will be happy to share them. I will probably send the parts to the laser cutter that cut my ribs last time and I would think he would be happy to sell a few sets of parts.
