Status: offline 		I am converting a Aeromax (ya ya ya I know) 49" Edge-540 to glow. I got it from good ol' cyradio on ebay. It arrived with some fuselage damage, I decided to repair it rather than hassle with sending it back. Hey, I knew the job was dangerous when I took it.
Anyway here are the specs;
49in EDGE-540 30E ARF

WINGSPAN: 49"(1245mm)

LENGTH: 46-1/2"(1180mm)

WING AREA: 450sq in(29sq dm)

WEIGHT: 2.4-2.65lbs (1100-1200g)

PROP: APC13x6.5-E (not included)

BATTERY: 2100-2500mAh LiPO 3-4S (not included)

MOTOR: E-Flite Power 10 / AXI 2814 or equivalent (not included)

ESC: >40A (not included)

I have a new Magnum 52 four stroke to power it with. I should be able to keep the weight under 4 pounds, this should make it 3D capable and give it nice verticle performance.

Status: offline 		After fixing the damaged fuselage, I went through and re-braced the whole frame with 1/8"X1/4" balsa scraps and used ply at the firewall to strengthen it for the added weight and vibration that it will have. I also re-glued all of the joints and put epoxy in some choice locations.

Status: offline 		you need to stay close to the electric weight to fly 3d good. if at 4 lbs it will not be a great 3d plane at all. even at 3 lbs will be a dog in 3d stuff. what does that magnum weight?

That is bad news for me, I put everything that is going in it into a plastic bag and weighed it, I will be under 4 pounds but way over 2.65 pounds. Oh well it is what it is I suppose, there is nothing I can cut out, I'm using all mini servos a micro reciever and a small lipo battery. I have the same motor in a plane that weighs 4 pounds 8oz and with a 13X4 prop spinning at 10,000 rpm it will climb verticle. So if nothing else I will have unlimited verticle performance in this plane weighing almost a full pound less.

Status: offline 		yes it will climb good but hovering it and high alpha 3d will lack some. it will still be very fun to fly. that engine would do well in a larger electric 3d plane around the 3.5-4 lbs weight

Status: offline 		Here she is moments before the maiden flight. I left the cowl off for the first test flights to keep it cooler and so that I can inspect the motor mount for vibration damage after the intial flights.

It has a very fast roll rate but they were out of frame on the video. I put it into a throttle off nose up stall and it recoveded very nice even though the CG was very far back. Vertical performance was also very nice and it should be even better once I remove the break in prop. The wind was picking up fast so I only got in two flights, I can't wait to fly it again, with a little fine tuning it looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Status: offline 		I have sevral hours of flight time on this plane now, it is a LOT of fun to fly. Just for kicks I put a GPS in it, I recorded a top speed of 82MPH, 9 miles of flight in about nine and a half minutes and a max altitude of just over 500'

Status: offline 		Here is the interior, not much to see, the battery is stuffed all the way in the tail behind the green foam. The prop is a 12X4 or 12X6 I would have to pull the spinner off to see the pitch, but I know for sure it is 12".
