hey if you havent done yours yet. cover the surface around the holes you make with 2inch wide blue painters tape first and let the tape hang down 4 or 5 inches below the holes and your clean up will only take about 30 seconds. did mine last nighrt it worked great.

I said it was messy

Yes I used the blue tape....etc and it does help, even put foam in the smaller belly pan part attached to the fuse.

PS:
Hope to maiden mine this weekend!

thanks caurimare....went through the P-40 and replaced the bad choke servo. It may have been vibration that killed it because it was actually glued solid to the floor beneath it. The new servo is shorter so it wont make the contact....should be a go this weekend, will try to get video for it.

The one for the big P-40 will protrude about 1 inch beyond the bottom of the cowl.

Dblex you can just send it to Jtec for free fix if it's too short or just add the extension like I did

OK... so I have five flights on mine and two were dead sticks, two were very rich engine settings, and one was when the retracts didn't go up. I don't have a real good record so far. But anyway, my question in about the DA 60. I went from being so lean that the engine heated up and quit, to being so rich it won't clean out on the top end by turning the HSN 1/4 turn out. I have never had a DA so touchy! Planning to try it again this weekend, but just wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

Hi lomcevak540t my DA60 ran perfectly with the cowl off but extremely lean with the cowl on...after some discussion with DA I soldered a tube on the diaphragm relief hole and attached fuel tubbing to it and ran it into the fuse area. Then I bored a nickel sized hole thru the firewall behind the carb. This fixed it to run like a dream with the cowl on. Hope this helps

warhawk you need to run a 20X12 if you want some real speed ...otherwise a 22x10 is perfect for everyday flying

The Manual calls for 85oz/in Torque Servos on all control surfaces; what is everyone using for Flap Servos, are Hitec 5475 Standard Digital with 76oz/in sufficient for Flaps?

The flaps need a good servo. I use HS 645s or 5645s if you want digital.

My P-40 is getting near completion, ran the DLE 55 for the first time this weekend, next task will be the Cowl, I am using the J-Tec Pitts Muffler with the longer exhaust tubes.

My plan is to shorten the exhaust tubes so they just clear the cowl by 1/2", and I would ideally like to just cut two 1" holes for the Exhaust tubes to extend through; is the opening of the Cowl Flaps at the rear of the cowl sufficent opening for proper cooling, I know the rule the exit has to be larger than the inlet, but if I don't have to make a larger hole other than to allow the exhaust tubes to pass through would be ideal.

If you have pictures showing this, great, or if they are posted and know the post number# would be appreciated, thanking anyone who can help me this.

I had to close in the air intake and add some vents to the bottom of the cowl. I can get some pic tonight and post them. My engine wouldn't run right until I done this. The cowl was building too much pressure inside it and would stop the diaphram pump in the carb to stop working. Runs great now! I'll get pics on here tonight.
