Maybe I am not seeing it right. How do you see the steering in the rear? I do not see any servo installed in the pick and it looks as if the rear wheels are on the motor pod.

Waste of time? Please since you know so much Flaco enlighten us all with your reason why it will not work? Did you already try it? Please explain yourself and back it up with straight facts based on your comment and I will gladly listen. I am willing to listen to a more logical idea that is based off simplicity. Forklifts seem to do quite well steering from the rear but let us see how it does on the track shall we before we end up making comments that could end up with a mouth full of foot(LOL).

It does steer from the rear . It now has a solid piece of carbon fiber where the servo mounts are installed and plenty of room for the receiver and data logger. The motor pod is reversed and mounted in front actually like the real car and traction is provided by a GMS T-BAR and a reversed traction rod. Front drive axle is  works like a spool which supposed to spin the tires equally. If in theory they do spin equally the car should not have to use the steering all that much because the traction of the front wheels should pull the car nice and straight. If it works great ,if not I will be the first to say it not the right way to do it.  I will wait till the car runs before I make an hasty judgement. I will let the car do the talking.

in theory...indeed. But there is more to going straight in drag racing then just the drive wheels both turning equally. I think the problem with rear steering is gonna be making any kind of corrections after it leaves. Being electric... that thing is likely to hit the tires very hard, unless you will be using a programmable esc where you can soften the hit a bit and control the rollout.

Getting the car lined up in the groove correctly, and just how hard it tries to hit the tires, and what it does 20-30ft will play a big roll in just how straight the car actually goes.

I like the project though. What kind of times are you shooting for?

Status: offline 		I am running a  programmable ESC with a data logger. My first goal is what you are talking about wich is to get the feel for the car and work on getting it to go in a straightline and then add power in stages as we go.

Status: offline 		sounds like you are on the right track then. Im curious...did you go with rear steering for the simple fact of front steering being too hard to do with the the chassis combination being used?

Status: offline 		looks to be a good idea.....

But just some advice. I drive a forklift from time to time...not a big one its a 6ton forklift, but its got a 2.4d toyota engine, so its got ample power, it also has a 3speed box, and from experience, if you run it at 40km/h (dunno how much it is in miles) and turn it, it wil throw you into it. we have managed to almost tilt it at one time.
So for a safety feature(for the vehicle) the manufacturere installed a device that once you go over 10km/h and turn it as per normal, the turning happens slowly and controlled.
So...have a look into it, so that your servo maby turns slower than normal and not as fast and with the normal "jerk" action.....oh......and set your bateries a bit to the rear for back weight, otherwise youre back end will start to look like a kite on top speed.........

Status: offline 		no matter if its theroy or what ever rear steering just seems really wierd and would look funny lol i wouldint doubt that it may work but arguing your forklift comment about it steering from the rear..you dont happen to see forklift's at drag tracks now do you....iam just saying lol
