I have heard somewhere that if you charge batteries with a fast field charger and you use the electric starter at the same time, all connected to the same field box battery, you can, with the voltage variation at the source (the field box battery) cause a false peak and in turn get not fully charged batteries in the plane or transmitter. Needless to say, not a good thing.

My question is, can a solar charger which charges by pulses via some capacitor in the charger unit cause enough voltage variation at the source to cause a false peak.

I'd also agree with the probably if your panel is charging something up and then discharging it at intervals (i.e. what you described.) I have a panel setup in my plane trailer but my charge box really only prevents overcharging and reverse current flow. I've never had a problem with that setup. Then again, most of my battery charges are regulated at the input side so changing input voltage doesn't effect them much.

Cheers.

Is the new Hobbico fast field charger Mk II regulated on the input side?
