WAS THINKING OF PAINTING THE WOODEN PROFILE FUSE INSTEAD OF COVERING TO AVOID FUEL SEEPING AROUND COVERING NEAR ENGINE MOUNT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Earl, you will loose a lot of strength in the fuse if you don't cover it. Most folks, including myself, cover it and and use epoxy, or some type of fuel proof paint on the engine mount. Have you ever noticed how much more rigid a wing structure is after you cover and shrink it? It will probably make a lighter plane too.
Good luck! David
