Status: offline 		Taral Do you know if the new blender intends to continue to package the product in metal gallon cans?

With most of the product parameters being vary close among brands the metal cans was the chief reason myself and many others remained loyal to PW so long.

Status: offline 		They intend to change nothing about the way Powermaster blended or packaged their products.  The only thing they want to change is provide better service.

Status: offline 		Been using CoolPower 15%  and now Coolpower Pro-Pattern 20% which is a 20/20 blend. My YS likes, thus I like. $23 a gallon.

I just spoke with the folks at Texas Allied Chemicals. They were the producer of the fuel and took over the line when the PowerMaster folks elected to get out of the business.

The bottom line is that, right now they are marketing through Horizon Hobby only but have an arrangement where any LHS can order, whether they are associated with Horizon or not. I didn't ask about how Horizon will price the product to other shops, but the product is being shipped, a container left for Horizon last week and should be available. It seemed as though they were open to working with other distributors, but only Horizon had come to an agreement thus far.

I hope Powermaster continues. The product was the most sensible blend out there. I certainly subscribe to many of the blending philosophies they have. Some goes against the grain but from what I've read in the RC Fuels FAQ in this forum i am terrified that people who knowso littel about fuels and lubricants are marketing the product as experts. In my view the Power master people certainly know much more than the average fuel producer.

Status: offline 		Geez, no SIG fuel discussion? champion is 20% oil. And by volume not weight , it is printed on the bottle.
I have been using SIG Synpower lately in my Irvine 40 and it loves it. It is a full 18% lube fuel.

Class I, II or III Base oil. Paraffinic or naphthenic?
How much PAO, If any at all?
How much ash?
Whats the viscosity index?
Oxidation stability
What additive package is included, if any?

Powermaster seems to have a grasp on all this so I would trust them. the rest, I'm not so sure.

Status: offline 		raw ingredients actually come from refineries like those owned by Chevron, Philips Conoco, Shell Oil, Exxon etc.
Lube oils also comes from those refineries and are sold as base oils to blenders. As fas I know, Powermaster is one of the few whose blender is a specialist chemicals company. the rest are a little sketchy which makes me beleive theres a lot of small operation blending going on. Of course I could be wrongbut what is certain is that the likes of Morgans, Coopers, ModelTechnics, Wildcat don't own refineries with chemicals plants or lube oil manufacturing facilities so they are buying on the open market and are subject the fluctuating demand of the highest quality lube base oils.

Any way back to the originalstory, Powermaster is still in existence, they are under Texas Applied Chemiclas now. I contacted them yesterday. they are re-positioning the product line to fall under their general product portfolio hence the limited availabiltiy at the moment. It will be more widely available once they are up and running.

Status: offline 		Our so called fuel companies like Morgan's and Wildcat are small companies that likely have fewer than a dozen employees. Their volumes do not necessarily justify dealing directly with the biggest chemical companies.

Status: offline 		A friend is getting out of RC and has been bringing me over all his stuff. I had just ran out of PM and went to wildcat but I'm now holding a few more gallons of PM again so I may have a couple more months worth of flying with my old stand by.

Status: offline 		I get a tad more power from Wildcat 15% but bearings seem to last a lot longer with 15%Powermaster, so I'm glad to see them coming back. (this is running dry with after-run oil) Upgrading to all stainless bearings when it's time is a wise choice.

Status: offline 		Powermaster is back on the shelves at my LHS.  Has been for about a month or so now.  Almost through the first gallon of 20/20 new stuff and also ran some of the 15%.  Can't say it's the same but it runs just as good as the old stuff.

Status: offline 		I thought they went of business too. I went into my LHS and they have it in stock. The reason is they jacked up the price. So now, for 15% we pay $23.00 a gallon, for the 20-20 it now costs $27.00 a gallon. The hobby shops can get now, under the new ownership, but you pay the increase. It's getting out of sight , so I'll use what I have and switch to gas. We are getting ripped off big time for nitro fuel, and I say the Hell with em!! Go Gassers.

Perhaps it's that missing 2% oil giving you the extra power??
