I called a hobby shop in Dallas to buy Powermaster fuel as my LHS that sold it closed its doors. I was told Powermaster is out of business???!!! I've been flying for 10 years plus now and have only burned Powermaster 15/18 and 15/20 this whole time. What now??

wildcat makes some fine fuel, its all ive been running the past couple of years...hobbytown sells it under their Patriot fuel line..... same fuel different label...its already been verified

I'm in the same boat. All you can do is try another fuel. I have tried different fuels on and off over the years and there are some pretty good fuels out there. Same thing we did when K&B quit making fuel.

Don Still has always carried byron, and that's what I've always run in my aircraft. I had some powermaster at one point, it got moisture in it before I had a chance to fly more than a tank or two out of it, but I still use the old can.

+1 for the Patriot fuel from Hobbytown.

The rumor we are hearing is that the father died, but two sons remain.  Its not clear yet if they will continue with the business.

If your refering to Powermaster this would be the fifth rumor I have heard as to why they closed.

You're lucky, here powermaster runs $21-$23 (10-15% nitro) and now the stores (Hobby People) are carrying Wildcat and charging $23 with 16%oil and $26 with 18% oil. I always add 3 oz of caster to the powermaster for my 2 stroke engines.

Yikes - that's highway robbery man! The last gallon of Patriot "Supreme" 15% I bought from my local Hobbytown was $14.99. I wonder why it's so much more expensive your way?

Wow, nice. I'll have to double check that Patriot fuel. I didn't see it in the store. Just saw some Omega and another brand that I can't think of now.

Omega and Cool Power are from the same company.

Whe I was racing cars, I used Byron's 30 % all the time, those engines turn 30 - 40,000 RPMs all the time, if it'll keeep them together ...

I heard you can still get it from a company in Texas they bought the Powermaster line,

The new fuel Hobby People is stocking is widlcat. I just got a jug and will be testing as soon as the wind ever decides to take a rest. If for any reason I don't care for it then my other two LHS stock different fuels. I was a loyal user of PM but I have tried most the others without problems. Price will probably be the deciding factor for me anyway. The WC on sale right now is $17.00 and I know the others are a bit cheaper. I'm starting to use more gas powered engines but I still have several glows so time will tell what I end up using.

My local H-Town sells Patriot fuel..I was very skeptical in using... it its made by Wildcat. Its all i run now, and all it took was one gallon to convince me

I was at my LHS today and I asked when they are getting more 20/20 PowerMaster in and they said probly never . Now I am really bummed . I find a good fuel I like and it is gone . They said the owners are done and are trying to sell the business . So they can't order from a distributor anymore they have to go direct cause the distributor is getting inconsistant delivery and has dropped the product (Horizon) . Here is the screwed up part . In order to place a direct order they have to order 100 gallons of every type they want to carry . Thats the way to run a buisiness your trying to sell . WAY TO GO POWERMASTER

I beleve powermaster has been shut down gone for many months possibly even into last year. Whatever has dribbled down since is just the pipeline drying up.

Visiting the national dealers show in Las Vegas recently in addition to some new starts Byrons is coming on very aggressively and competive in pricing compared to the past. Its was sufficient for me to order up a large cache for my personal use, since the demise of Powermaster.

There is rumor someone in Texas bought Powermaster and if they do get a start I wish them well and would hope they continue with the metal cans which are likely more expensive but is something I did and would continue to pay a premium for.

I have been using Ritches Brew for about a year now and it runs great-I fly almost every weekend and usually burn a gallon a week, easy to get for us here in Houston and I also have heard that he ships all over. I was impressed the way it ran in my Saito's, Super Tiger and YS-I recently stripped my glow plug-I went ahead and pulled the engine down and replaced the bearings and was amazed at the condition of the bearings in a Saito 180-no detectable wear found and the engine was really clean inside, it appeared to be almost new and this engine has been run really hard on my yak nearly every weekend.

RB is a fuel I have heard good things about but to date I have never seen any at the LHS here or in Calif. This weekend I gave the Wildcat 15% a try and it worked very well in an OS .91FS and a YS 1.20. I detected nothing different in the way my engines ran, that's true of most of the fuels I have tried though. At this point what fuel I burn is going to be based probably more on price. I haven't seen a nickles worth of difference but I do keep my eye on the oil content. Alcohol is alcohol and nitro is nitro but the oil can make a big difference.
