Just returned tonight (around $1000 short) from Toledo. Had a great time salavating over the Ziroli's booth and others.

Just wanted to say that I met one fellow there that makes landing gear for giant scale warbirds (retracts). This guy is clearly knocking off some quality stuff, and I thought he should get a mention here, since from time time, we're all looking for some gear.
I noticed his prices were, or are, at the same level his competitors are, but his gear are higher in quality ( I don't want to mention the particulars, but I was comparing a set of his, verses a set I currently have, that cost the same) than the mainstream fellows.

So here's his plug....and no, I didn't buy anything from him...but wish I had known of him before I bought the others, sigh.......

I purchased a set of retracts and scale struts from Sierra last year for the Mark Frankel F4D Skyray that are masterpieces of Craftsmanship and very reasonably priced. Darrel Tenny is the man behind Sierra Precision. He had a lot of other products they make at the Toledo show that I was unaware of that are just excellent. For example, an air fill valve with an extra long threaded neck and built in schrader valve as well as quick disconnects with built in schrader valves. You need to check out Sierra's offerings; nothing but top quality.

They would not happen to have a web link? I'm always looking for other options as far as parts for the hobby go. I wonder just how many other companies are out there that make quality products that the major competitors?

I too was impressed by the Sierra gear. I'm considering his brakes for model I'm starting on now.

I have known Darrell of Sierra Precision for about a year now, via emails. I finally got to meet him at Toledo and take a good look at his gear. They are truely awesome in quality and Darrell will go out of his way to make sure you get nothing but the best. If he doesn't have it, he will make it. It's what I am going to put in my next F4U and in the 1/5 P47 if I can ever get the design finished. No more Robarts or CJMs in my stuff, only the best. No web that I know of. Here's a pic of the P47 gear with a shink bar.

Darrell of Sierra Precision scaled up a set of FW190 gear for the Vaillancort that I enlarged to 110 inch wingspan. This is top quality stuff, and he is a to the bones honest guy. These gear are huge and very strong. Almost feel like hanging them on the wall instead of of an airplane. Plane is all framed and ready to start glassing. I am with chook, Sierra only for me. I would rather spend a few bucks more for a $2-3,000 plane than save a few bucks and risk the plane. Thumbs up here.
