Futaba 2.4GHz Conversion For Older Radio's
Hello Guys,
I have two older Futuba radio's that I still want to use for flying foamie's/park flyers. They are a (FP-7UHP PCM 1024) 72MHz and one (FP-T6FG/K) 72MHz transmitters. I would like to convert them to 2.4GHz useing a "Module system" e.g. Futuba, Spectrum or Hitec, is this possible. Please do post and explain how to convert with this or other ways. Thanks

If your transmitter is a Modular Rf model, you can probably get a 2.4 module to fit it. However, for park flyers, take a look at this for less than the price of the module, probably half the price of the module http://www.hobbypartz.com/exrc62tr.html
A couple guys at the field have them and they are flying 60 size planes wiht them and are very happy. The biggest complaint I've seen is that the setup won't work after binding, but that has always been the result of not removing the binding plug.

These are a few of the available modules that will work in the 7U.

I think the six channel transmitter just has a crystal rather than a removeable RF module. These are supposed to be able to convert virtually any transmitter to 2.4 gHz. The second one uses the trainer cord jack. Not sure about the other one. Again, these are just examples and there may be many more options that I am not aware of.

Once you choose a brand for the transmitter end, only that brand of receiver is compatible. Also, there can be various versions within a brand (one of the Corona parts mentions this) that are not compatible.

The Futaba FASST modules will plug right into your 7U transmitter. There are no modules available that we know of that will work with your old 6FG/K transmitter. The Futaba 72/75 MHz modules for those transmitter have not been made for a very, very long time, and the current FASST modules will certainly not work.
Here are the Futaba transmitter modules:
FUTL8927 TM-7 FASST 7CH MOD 9C 9Z 8U 7U US$199.99
FUTL8928 TM-8 FASST 8CH MOD 9C 9Z 8U 7U US$229.99
These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells Futaba systems and accessories.
Either module will work with your 7U transmitter.

Thanks guys for the great feed back ,
While servicing my transmitter I (broke) one of the battery terminals, (it looks a regular 9v battery terminal) [], the battery is a Futaba NT-8LP 9.6v Nicd. Can I get this one repaired or replace it with a newer battery ?.
