Hey guys I have 2 questions about the tail rotor and servo. First, I took off the main blades thankfully, and I was messing with the transmitter learning the switches and tiny switches but anyway my helicopter was on and my transmitter was on. the throttle was all the way down and I reversed the channel 3 switch making my helicopter result in full throttle. the main blades were off so the helicopter stayed on the ground but the tail blades made it turned and smashed into my chair braking off my tail rotor grips and the slider arms. first question, is there any damage that could have happened from this other then the tail rotor breaking off, it seems fine to me but i am new so i dont have much knowledge. the thing is when i move the tail rotor a little bit to the left or right the tail servo will still be making it move. like if i moved the left stick over the the right just a pinch to get the tail slider to move to the left a pinch, the tail servo will push it a pinch then slowly keep moving a little and stop. is this normal or would the tail slamming into my chair legs at full speed possibly ruined the servo making it still move slowly after it already moved a little bit from the tail input i give from the transmitter? Any replies are most appreciated!!

Thanks everyone!

Chris

First of all, please go to your other post and delete it.  You double posted.  If any other part of the heli didn't smack anything, then it should be good.  You might have bent your tail rotor shaft and causing it to bind.  As you noticed about the dangers of messing with it, why would you be reversing your switches?

Please have a local helo pilot you trust look it over. It may easily have damage you do not know to look for. Damage that could make it unsafe to fly or be near while turning up.

Pop the link off the tail servo and move it back and forth with the link in line with the ball. It does not take much drag to effect the tails performance. With it off and the motor unpluged move the tail servo while pressig down on the servo horn it should be nice and smooth and not slowed down unless you press real hard which you should not do, nice firm pressure.

I find post like this often and I can’t understand why people would start flipping switches with no idea what they do, must have to be born stupid to understand.

You may want to watch your tongue because you are traveling down a not so nice road.  If you don't have someone to help, sometimes people have to use what resources they have and use trial by fire.   I've been down that road before when setting up my Blade CPP2 to my DX6I.  I had a basic knowledge, but was still learning.  I had no one to assist me and I wasn't about to just let it collect dust and forget about it.  I've even talked to Jason Krause and he has made mistakes before as well like forgetting to flip the switch to 3D mode prior to performing.    One other thing, learn the difference between ignorance and stupidity.  They sound similar, but have different meanings.

Solman,  first what do you mean by using trial by fire? I've never herd that expression before. Is it like taking someone's suggestion with a grain of salt? And second what do you mean when you said "learn the difference between ignorance and stupidity? But there really is nobody around I can ask help from, i'm still looking, but i learn from my mistakes and will be extra careful in the next rounds. plus im not the one to just give up when something gets hard. I just try harder, Im the last person that would let it just sit and collect dust, im fascinated with helicopters and always have been, my art tech shark 450 v2 is my first rc helicopter and it sure enough wont be the last. But I thank you for your honesty

First of all the previous poster changed what he said, but is still throwing insults out there.  It was meant towards him, not you.  I went thru the same thing especially when I decided to bind my CP Pro 2 to my DX6I.  I had no one to help and had limited knowledge with programmable transmitters.  I got it done about 3/4 of the way and then had no choice but to seek out help and it cost me money.  From that experience, I gained so much knowledge but I am still learning the fine points.  If you don't have a mentor around, then we do what we must do to fix it or give up.  I for one am not giving up.  It may cost me some money or some bloody knuckles, but I will succeed.   I think it is great that you are seeking whatever help you can receive and help is limited on the web.  There is nothing like having someone there to show you.    BTW, did you check your servo for broken gears?
