BTW, first pic is for a 1/10th scale Apache, second one as well. the last pic is for a 1/9th scale NH90 by graupner. all pretty small scales

good guess, its the 50 size, so this one has a torque drive in it.

Here's the next video. I'm discussing how I'll make the cockpit look more "3d" (though not as cool as reaper31's).

Check out the attached picture: Notice the "3d" elements I was referring to around the edges of the cockpit (on either side of the HUD). You can see the areas that can be raised and the shade I was referring to in the center of the picture.

Hey Gang,

Still working on the cockpit detail. I can tell by the exponentially declining Youtube views that this is boring people to death, so I'll keep it to a minimum on the videos.

I've been mulling over how I want to do the removable cockpit. As I stated earlier I'd like to just have a "drop in" cockpit with canopy, etc... But after seeing Gunradd's new build, I think it would be cool to have an opening canopy like his (you know, so everyone can see all that cockpit detail

)

Here's a quick update. I'm slowly but surely making some progress. I've figured out how I want to run my air lines (yeah!) and have started some of the mundane stuff like adding my hatch latch. I think I'm done with the control panel for now and will take a break from the cockpit until I get all the air lines run throughout. Enjoy!

Sorry for the delay in the recent videos. With the holidays and misc. drama outside the shop I got slowed down. Anyway, we're back on track for a few days.

I really had to scratch my head on this cockpit thing... it really isn't designed to be easily removed, that's for sure. The answer to my problem of getting the thing to fit and to make it semi easy to remove was as simple as moving the air tanks. Check out the video to see what I mean.

Ok, so how did the stencil work turn out? Check out the video to find out!

Overall, I think that using the frisket is very easy and accomplishes exactly what it was intended to do. Now that I've learned some of its characteristics I think I will get even better results in the future. You don't learn 'till you try, right? :-)

Well, I sanded off the "pig" from my rudder, filled, primed and sanded. One problem that occurred was that air bubbles (they looked like wrinkles) were appearing. When I cut the frisket I must have cut through the fiberglass and caused the air pockets.

I cut slits where the wrinkles were, slightly enlarged with the X-Acto and filled with Z-Poxy. I'm letting that dry now. It's an easy fix, but a lesson to be learned. I'll be pre-cutting my frisket prior to applying to my parts in the future.

Great videos!

I have had some success using silver solder to fix broken nipples on some air cylinders. You may want to consider that to fix the nipple on your fill valve.

I don't think the nipple is actually broke, I think it is the "lip" that the tubing fits over. It isn't symmetrical so it is almost flat on one side so it isn't digging into the tubing like it should. Thanks for the suggestion, I've heard that the "cheap" air cylinders for the Yellow F-16 are prone to breakage and can be repaired as you have described.

In this episode we start building the duct extension to move our Stumax back to help make getting the center of gravity where it needs to be easier. This is Part 1 of a 2 part video.
It has been so friggin cold I haven't been able to paint. I want to get back on that vertical stab when the weather warms up. Until then, on with duct extending action...

Ok, the final video on building the extension duct. Other than cosmetics I think it's pretty much complete. As far as stiffness is concerned I don't think there's any way this thing will budge once it is inserted into the existing duct and the stumax is on the mounting rails.

Ok, here's some "progress". I wanted the duct extension to match so I did the following:

1) Filled and sanded the wooden ring around the duct extension

2) Glassed

3) Filled and sanded the newly glassed duct extension

4) Primed

5) Painted with matching stumax color scheme
