I have a problem getting rid of some swashplate phasing when pumping the collective with the Aurora 9. The helicopter is a Gazaur Poseidon 480 with a 120 degree swashplate. The elevator (Ch3) servo has a slight lead when changing the collective up or down. When jiggling the collective up and down, there's a slight rocking of the swashplate when viewed from the side. I tried different things on the Aurora 9 to correct this such as end point adjustment, swash mix, acceleration, program mix, and finally servo delay. Only the last gives some improvement but it's still there.

On the mechanical side, I tried swapping servos, made sure the length of the links are in spec, and re-installing the servo arms to use minimal subtrim to no avail. This problem does not exist on my Trex 600 which is a much larger helicopter but it's noticeable on the Poseidon. I wonder if the smaller size of the heli magnifies any imperfection in the transmitter mixing. It certainly explains why the heli would backup on me when I jiggle the collective in a hover.

I must be doing something wrong. Is there a technique or procedure in correcting this problem? It's not clear to me how the swash mix features work on the Aurora.

    Thanks,

    Whirligig

The problem has been resolved! The Airtronics 94091 servos installed by the previous owner were replaced with Hitec HS65HB and the swashplate is now in perfect phase. The replacement took serveral hours because of the Y-arrangement of the servos but it was well worth it. Evidently the Airtronics servos are better off on a park flyer. The Hitec are more precise. Just a dash of subtrim was needed for the pitch but the others were perfectly zeroed. I can now fly the Poseidon head-in confidently.

    Alan,

Finless Bob's videos on the A9 are great! Finally I understand the tradeoff between Normal and Scan mode. The Failsafe video is a must see.

    Thanks,
