Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I brought out my Savage SS from a long hibernation and noticed that I have zero steering! The truck is slightly dirty but no caked on mud or anything.

I removed the steering linkage to the hi torque servo, and it works just fine. I also sprayed PB Blaster to the linkage and steering components but nothing is budging. I can turn the wheels back and forth but cannot figure out why the servo cannot activate the steering.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have a look at what the servo saver is doing while you use the transmitter to steer the truck,

perhaps the servo saver spring needs to be tightened up some.

Have a look at the servo horn. The splines may have stripped. This can happen if the screw isn't tightened all the way down.

Just put some moderate pressure on the arm with your fingers and try to operate the steering wiht yoru radio. If the horn doesn't move, but you hear the servo motor running, the horn may be stripped or the internal gears might be stripped. With no load, they may grab enough to let you think everything is OK.

If the servo is fine, keep working forward.....the servo saver as mentioned above, and then the tierod, etc.

Thank you for the help so far guys. I will look at the servo and the saver tonight.

Ya know, I only did an hour quick charge to the truck's NiCad hump pack so perhaps there is enough power to activate the throttle servo but not enough power to turn the wheels. I'll put the battery on a charge tonight as well.
