Yes it was great.Dont know what the problem was but saw the takeoff, some in the middle and the landing, the rest was blank. But takeoffs and landings are the best parts with war birds.Congrats

Thanks Orion, it's a great warbird.........Don't know why you got some blank footage, I watched all the way through about 300 times now.....LOL...

You were probably seeing blue sky and a little black dot.........I kept her pretty high until I got her trimmed.

Captain Ron,

saw the video and i would say over half of it is black like a lens cover is over the lens. But what I did see was a very good flying plane, Congrats and hopefully I can find the time to finish mine.

Thanks flejter......Yeah, I don't get the black out. I clicked the full screen and I see what you guys are talking about. Leaving it in the small screen and you can see the whole thing......Of course, as Orion says, it's only the take off and landing that matters anyway........I had er up pretty high just getting to know her before I brought her down for a low pass WOT down the runway.......

Hey Nudger.........what'd you think?

Here are some pics of my control surfaces, I didn't want the hardware sticking through and visable from the top side of the plane. I used carbon fiber control horns and Hysol'd them in. As you can see I also mounted the servos under the stabs and got away from the wire system. I also mounted a servo tray in the tail for the rudder and got rid of the wires. I also know I added weight to the tail but with the heavier 7 cyl radial I am mounting up front balance shouldn't be a problem.

This is how I did the flaps keeping the control rods internal, I also am using carbon fiber over 4-40 control rods.

I really liked the idea of building a hatch for the switches, air filler, air gauge and twin voltage meter in the top of the fuselage and this is how mine turned out.

Here are a few pictures of my cockpit. The cockpit kit came from Ty and in my opinion is a really easy kit to build if you watch his video a few times.

Nice job flejter1, I also litterally changed everything inside the plane. My buddy was gonna try and fix the video so it doesn't go black....we'll see. Off to my next project.....

later, Captain Ron

Thanks Nudge..........you da man, I had a little bit of a diffilcult time just getting her to slow down. I don't have the gear doors on yet. With only the flaps down to slow her, she just wanted to keep on gettin on........LOL....Fun stuff Man, and your right.............I LOVE THIS BENT WING BIT**H I just gotta learn to use less power on short final and let her slow down while easing the nose up and letting her settle..............WHEW...!!! LOL...

MAN, I LOVE THIS SH*T

Ron, I have the same experience as you on landing this thing. Here is my opinion on it ; ( so, just my opinion )

-It is difficult to judge the speed when it comes towards you.

-The Corsair likes to fly with the tail high , otherwise it will climb.

Therefore, one has to put the nose more down than usual when landing. It gives you the feeling of almost flying
into the ground. So we tend to be a bit spooked, and pull up.

So, my strategy has been ; ( With full flaps )

Dive down , on idle power, nose down until you are quite low, push the nose down, down, until you come in horisontally quite fast crossing the start
of the field, loosing height, still horisontally flying ( nose down, tail high ) ....

When about 10 cm left pull up the nose slightly and it will loose the last speed and settle.

If you start pulling up to early, it will loose speed fast...the flaps are very effective....

When windy, I use only 50% flaps. Or dive even steeper, but be prepared for 45 deg nose down on full flaps to get it down. Very difficult.

Kwik............Yeah baby, you got my hands all sweaty again and my heart pumping in high gear just reading your post.......LOL....That's exactly the way I land my Top Flite P-51 GS Mustang. Using a very steep angle to the end of the runway at a low throttle setting. Once i pull the nose up, I add a little power so she just settles........works perfectly. I didn't think I would need to do that with the F4U because of the big eliptical wing carrying so much lift.....Once I get the gear doors on, that'll help slow her down with a full flap setting on short final.............Dang, I love this sh*t.......The adreneline is pumping just thinking about flying it again....

Thanks for the feedback Kwik........BTW, all the naysayers that knock this ESM retracts, they worked awesome and took a pretty good pounding.........jsut sayin,

Good to hear about the gear. I have the Robarts on mine. They are very nice too.

The ESM gear looks very nice for this plane.

Here's the link to the complete video as I recorded it. It now plays video full time. The pilot standing next to Ron and helping him is Duane, a veteran of 40 years of flying R/C.
Everything for Formula one to pattern to warbirds. He was telling Ron the whole time to bring it in steeper.

This is not "one up manship" it is to help clarify the new Saito GAS 3 cylinder radial.
