Status: offline 		The radial was a Saito 450 3 Cylinder highly modified to fit into the Corsair properly.  It is a stump puller.  I loved it.  I have not thoroughly checked out the engine yet, and am in hopes it is ok.  Destroyed a $300.00 Solo Prop too.  Expensive Crash.

The only good thing to come out of this is I cut the fuselage in half and sent the cockpit section into the factory to create a new highly detailed scale cockpit for the plane.  I will be putting that puppy in the new one as well.  We will be carrying the scale cockpit for sale.

Status: offline 		No, not put together, sorry.  There is, however, good instructions and step by step photos on a DVD to assemble it.  The cockpit must be built into the plane.

What servos were you using on your ailerons if you dont mind me asking?  Do you think the aileron servo crapped out on you at takeoff?

Or, if the outer wingpanels was removable, then perhaps it was the plug?

Status: offline 		It was so tore up and torn apart, I have no idea where the problem lied.  All one can do is guess.  I know that both servos were inoperable.  There was not any change in the fight to right the plane.  The rudder was the only thing that changed the roll.  The Servos were Wike 7425 Coreless.  They were plugged into another receiver and they worked fine.  The problem occurred in the receiver or the wiring to the servos.  Just a wild guess, but the receiver prongs were discolored a bit from age, not the bright gold color of a new receiver.  I tested the circuit and of course everything worked fine.  I wouldn't say they were corroded, but I am from Oregon.  Things happen so fast in the process of a crash,  I recall these details because I play and replay the experience in my mind over and over to recall every detail.  The wings were epoxied together, I chose a solid wing for additonal strength with a 30 lb. aircraft.

I have just got this bird too, very nice thread with lots of tips and tricks, my plan is to finish mine during the winter here in Denmark, I will try with an electric setup for power and a sound modul,have never tried electric before but I hope it works out well.

A while ago I reported to you guys I was having trouble with my saito fg57 in my corsair coughing when going inverted.Well the good news is that it is now sorted along with my 2 fg 30s.The problem was the carbs a design problem and saito have now sent me 3 new ones.Its so nice to fly now without the added worry of a dead stick.

Thanks to you guys with suggestions on the problem

Status: offline 		 It should but it was just my preference.... I kind of figured a tailwheel retracts to be unseen that's all...  Most guys allow it to protrude slightly.

you all had lots of great ideas...
== I changed the pull-pull elevator system to a duel servo pushrod type set up with the servos in the front servo bay,
==corrected the engine mount tube thrust angle problem and put in about 2 deg Right and 3 deg down
==renforced all the formers and firewall with epoxy
==put the choke servo under the engine mount tube up front
==put all the batteries( redundant batteries and swithches) up front in the engine mount tube- all of you seem to be way tail heavy out of thebox.- I'll add more weight in lead as needed...1 pound? if thats what it takes!
==put all the switches in the fuel fill hatch in front of the canopy- that was a great idea!!
 ==used the inbord flap servo to drive all three flaps,
 ==beefed up the flap push rod conection to the flap,
==internalized the aileron servos with rotational drive rods
==I copied your exhast system for a scale look, but the solder is melting- need to use silver or braze it, but should prob just get some headers for the DLE and do it right.
All these ideas came from you guys on this thread!!  thank you for sharing,  great suff!
waiting for the Robart electric mains, will need to do the gear doors,  and then she will be ready to maiden
I'll try to post some pics of the build if anyone is interested

I just got my Robart Electric mains back from Robart. I sent them a pair of Corsair Retracts I had sitting around to convert. I took the stock ESM pneumatic retracts out and sold them on RCU. I haven't installed the Robarts yet. I have hooked everything up and worked them on the bench. With a 6v 2500 mah nickel medal, it tookk 11 seconds to fully extend and 10 seconds to fully retract into the up and locked position. Robart says they will go faster the more powerful battery you use. If you lose an engine, 10 seconds is a REALLY REALLY LONG time........

Status: offline 		I hear ya, but that should be enough time, and in a true emergency, like a take-off flame-out, I'd be better off with a belly landing because our airstrip is surrounded by a plowed field and would rip out my gear (which I have done before on smaller planes).
And Retracts birng up another question, do you guys use a "smart-fly" type power expander ?  I'm a bit worried that  during the lading approach, the power drain from the retracts, flaps, and the high torque control surface servos  all together may drag the 4000 mAh reciever batter down to the "Brown Out" level.  that would be BAD!  what do you think?
