As I understand it: there are no 'landing' and/ or registration fees, but there may be a state park fee involved?
Here is interactive Yahoo map:

Weather (OK, not looking great, but no worse than for any other event this day in lower Michigan):

What makes the trip 'shorter' for me: my wife's daughter lives in Howell. We will drive straight to Howell after I get out of work on Friday, spend some time with family, sleep at thier house, then drive for only an hour Sat. morning to get to event site.
I'll be bring following warbirds:
1) Top Flite 1/8 scale P-47D "My Baby", with Vortac bomb drops
2) Top Flite 1/7 scale P-51D "SHOO SHOO BABY", all 3 wheels retract
3) Hangar 9 1/8 scale F4U-1A Jolly Rogers #3 (Navy Lt. Streig's Corsair)
4) VQ Bf-108 (scale unknown, probably about 1/7), good 'target' for the hoards of Mustangs and Thunderbolts that usually show up

Hey Jim,
I talked to AluminumOvercast this evening and it looks like we'll get to see his Zero this Saturday !!! The detail he has put into it is stunning. Here's a link to a post showing his rivet and detail work. Look at post 218.

Quite the dramatic shift in weather forecast: at one point a few days ago prediction was 60% chance of rain/ scattered thunderstorms. Now, odds of precipitation are down to 20%: MUCH better.
Rain or shine: Dodge Ram already packed and ready to roll.
Looking forward to flying with fellow warbird enthusiests!

Hey CorsairJock,
Went to the field tonight and I'm happy to report both my ME-163 and Hurricane flew perfectly. I was too nervous to do the remaidens since I wanted to be sure I didn't goof something up and not have them for Saturday.
I had a good friend fly them both. Saturday I'll fly the FW-190 and have John fly the Hurricane and the ME-163 as I prefer not to get comfortable flying a new plane in front of a crowd.
Here's some pics from tonight.

Just have to say:
This was a REALLY NICE, WELL RUN WARBIRD EVENT!
The weather came thru (very surprisingly, considering original forecast) with lots of sun and blue skies, and very managable winds (under 10 mph duing entire event).
The number of participants has much higher than I expected, especially considering there is always so many things going on that 1st weekend in June. I've attended/ participated in many warbirds events that drew far fewer pilots and aircraft, and only a few that consistantly draw more. And the quailty of many of the warbirds: makes me wish I could find the time to add those craftmanship touches to mine, that so many others seem to find time for.
The announcer: First rate all the way. This guy really knew his stuff about warbirds, ALL warbirds from WW 1 to Viet Nam and on.
Music: it was there, but you really had to listen if you wanted to hear it: JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT. Few things bother me more than to hears some music blaring over a P.A. system while I'm trying to fly my warbirds, and/ or communicate with fellow pilots. But the sound level of music at this event was just right.
I want to thank Joe (Joespeeder) for bringing to my attention this event, and hopefully Joe: you can post some pictures soon?

Hi CorsairJock,
It was a great day yesterday and terrific fun to see your planes both electric and gas !!
I took a ton of pics and video yesterday. So far I made a Youtube video of the day and will post pics from it here also.
I had a weird thing happen with my FW-190 that kept me from flying it. I just recently replaced a retract servo. It works perfectly when testing with a servo tester. However, when I wired up the plane the retract would only function as long as I was operating the ailerons !!! The aileron were working correctly but he retract servo would only cycle while they were moving...... So rather than try to fix it at the field I just left it out for static display.

The video is still processing.... Quality will improve in a bit.
Had a great day otherwise and I was really happy the weather cooperated as you traveled a long way to join us. Hope to see you again next year.
