old timers refuse to go to the new radios and receivers

Well, that's not my case, as I am into 2.4 systems. In fact we tested it in a dynamic sub and as soon as it dived 1 inch below the surface control was lost (later it worked with a 35Mhz radio).

Regards,
Robert

I will be talking to the guy tonight at the hobby shop who said they do have a sub that runs on 2.4Ghz.. so I will see if he can bring in the sub or ask for a video of it in act.

and I want to know what radio/RX and "special" antennae he is using.

He said there is a special hoop that will allow it to work under water- more details later.

But what great news, hopefully the right, because it solves all our problems.
I'll be waiting for your tests.

I think the only hoop here will be the one he has to jump through to get this to work!

Yeah I am beginning to believe that since I have tried to contact him w/ no answer to what he is talking about... I picked up a FM RX for now- will stick with 2.4Ghz for surface running until they have living proof for me to see.

yup this has been covered many many times. It wont work because of the frequency.

Perhaps I should attach some numbers to this. All radio waves penetrate water, but they get exponentially weaker as they go deeper, and the exponential rate depends on the frequency. The depth you can practically reach is proportional to the wavelength of the signal, or inversely proportional to the frequency.

That means that if you have two transmitters, one on 27 MHz and one on 2.4 GHz, the former will deliver the same signal strength at 89 inches underwater as the latter will at one inch.
