Guys,

In terms of speed upgrades, what's the best option between running 5S batteries  verses a higher kV motor and retain 4S. Both would require I buy a new ESC.

So saying I buy a Seaking 180 ESC, is there any difference betwen keeping the stock motor and running 5S, or retaining my 4S batteries and changing out the motor for say a leopard 4074 at 1774kV. It seems to me both systems would add about 20% to the prop revs.

I think the new motor would possibly be cheaper in the long run 'cos adding 3S batteries to go with my 2S is pretty expensive.

Is there any advantage with stock motor on 5S verses a 1800kV motor on 4S both would be running through a 180amp ESC?.

Also with a 180 amp ESC is it still recommended to disable the BEC when running 5S?

Cheers,

Gordie.

Gordie, if speed is what you're after, I installed a Castle 1512 2650 kn in mine. Lets just say it's not slow Look back a few pages and you will see videos of it. Expect to run 2, 4S packs in parallel though or your run times will suck. The UL1 motor is a great option but I know a few people who have had them and they don't last very long. Other than that you can get a Leopard 3674 2650 which can be found herehttp://www.hobbypartz.com/leopard.html This way you can use a 36mm cooling sleeve as they don't make one for the Castle 2650 that is a direct fit.

I can dumb the high RPM motor down by lowering the motor timing. At 2* of timing its about as fast as an 1800kv motor. At 22* of timing it will travel back in time, lol!

Got the Geico wet yesterday. Threw on a 48mm Grouper carbon prop to see how it went. Went well, I think

Just received my Miss Geico today, the thing looks awesome and I can't wait to get it into the water this weekend when we go camping. My only problem is that the ESC is programmed for only Ni-Mh and all I have is LiPo's and the program cards are all on back order. Anybody know what can happen if I run the ESC as programmed with the LiPo's, as far as I know I just have to be careful not to run the LiPo's too low?
