You are not worried about interference from the ESC heat sink touching the aluminum top deck?

cant say that I am it shouldn't be an issue, it's been used, and hasn't been an issue.

I very much dislike 200+ page threads discussing a product/item

I'm sure any that are interested will find this thread! but I might post a single pic over there, with a link to here

This is definitely neat to see someone do a nitro to electric conversion. Does look quite good and looks like it should handle well with the weight of the motor in front of the tranny.

What speed control/motor are you running? It looks like an "L" motor from Hobby City. I have the 11L in my Slash 4x4 monster truck currently and it moves really good. Fast enough on 2s and crazy fast/wheelies/breaking stuff on 3s.

its the KD36, 3000kv.

I would have prefered the 3500kv, but because of the 32t spur and pinion, gearing options are limited.

its running the hobby king 100amp esc.

all up, the brand new roller, esc, motor, servo, and radio RX cost $150 less than a brand new RTR (aussie prices anyway)

and it goes faster, and runs cooler!

Good job, I am very interested in seeing it run. Please post an invitation on the nitro firestorm thread, I am a big poster there and people would definitely be interested in it.

Which 1m spur gear are you running?

sorry, meant to say 32p spur and pinion, not T...

I used the car today, compared to the E-Firestorm, the handling is horrible.

but, the E-Firestorm has a much stiffer diff, while the converted version tending to spin a single wheel, and end up spinning out..

I found the same problem with my nitro when I put a big block in it. I had to add a few shims and ended up putting 100k diff oil in it to get it to straighten out and not diff steer. Its pretty extreme but it worked well.

the surface I was using it on was fairly long, fairly damp grass.

car didn't wheelie at all, and it was running the same tyres, and same suspension setup as the e-firestorm brushless, that still happily wheelied.

I guess I have to pull the diff out!!

I ended up packing the diff with automotive grease, it still won't wheelie.

Both trucks weigh the same, however, the E-Firestorm has 200grams more on the rear wheels (all of which is behind the rear wheels) this also means 200grams less on the front wheels!!

E-Firestorm: F-800grams R-1400grams
N-Firestorm: F1000grams R-1200grams

The RTR version here costs about $AU400.

I bought the nitro roller off ebay for $AU125... then headed over to hobby king

KD36-60-07L 3500kv Brushless Inrunner
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6673
Hobby King Brushless Car ESC 100A w/ Reverse (Upgrade version)
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=8993

BMS-616DMG+HS Digital Buggy Servo (MG) 10.2kg / .12sec / 46.5g
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9443

Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz Receiver 3Ch
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=10625

19T/5mm 32 Pitch Steel Pinion Gear
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=8997

I already had a radio that binds with that RX, so, total for those items, including postage, is about $AU125.

so, $AU250 firestorm, that is faster, and runs cooler than stock, for $AU150 less than stock!!!

I'm looking at converting my Nitro Firestorm, did you cut the motor mount yourself?

How are the electronics holding up?

I had issues with my Nitro Firestorm spinning one wheel faster than the other, ended up being a bearing... Should have known when I got the thing it was torn to hell...

Yes, I made the motor mount myself, its just a piece of 3mm aluminium bar.

electronics seem to be holding up fine, its basically the same setup as I am running in my E-Firestorm.
