Neil, Are you actually using a G2D motor?? I don't have any extra barbs, but I'd give you a WA167 carb that used to work very well on a G2D motor. I think they have a little small venturi size 11.11mm vs 12.5mm for a WT257/488. Roger

Roger I did see a hull still in the box ,here on the buy and sell section. You need to build it. Roger the belts were Aquacraft I think he said $6.00 it that right? After getting this .67 CMB it's a hard starter. If you feel the Prather Belts are better I 'll get them. I f you have any in stock ,if not I can order here in town I have several new ones but if I bust em like that I may need more.
Craig get that big OS out that will eat the fuel.Quick I thought I was stocked up good on nitro ,until me messing with the .67 stuff. We will be here into next year if we just used the .12 hulls getting rid of 3/4 gal nitro. Craig you were fast enough this year on 40% I keep 40 % around for the hot & humid days. A lot less trouble in that weather 50 % gets fussy. I did get some readings on my Boris meter. Now is the time to mess with that. The # will be different from each meter. I think your meter will read different than mine. Right?

Craig, My Cajun Bullet is a gasser. I have run it only once in Elmira in Open Rigger, but I really do not know how fast it was. It certainly looked like a good E-bay speed!! There were always dead boats to avoid (mine sometimes!!) and I was really shaking down the handling and prop selection. I'm pretty sure Scott's .67 SGX finished a lap ahead of me as I didn't care about the start or swinging wide in the corners. If I can get back out to Stony Pond, I'll strap a GPS on it to see how fast it goes. I've actually had it with me a few times on Thursdays, but the sun and moon weren't in the right positions to allow me to take it out of the truck!! Probably a better rigger to compare your 45 to would be the old .67 Mongoose. Thats a little smaller boat and seemed to have predictable handling the one time I tested it at Elmira. If I get time to replece the throttle servo and cable I'll bring that too. Roger

Neil,
I believe Frankie G. worked that 67 Greenhead you have. Are you using 24v starters? Starts my 67 Greenhead with ease. In a 67 cat, expect to use 20 ounces+ fuel per race. 67 rigger used 16+ ounces. That is why we had that much fuel to sell. Once it get hot & humid, anything over 50% makes it interesting. That is why I always used 3rd channel remote needles.

Bill, My 24V starter wouldn't crank it. I know my 24V starter uses 4AMP batteries which I thought might be an issue. However, I don't have any problems cranking my .67 Picco or .82 K&B stuff. Neil and Craig's starters wouldn't crank it either. I think they use 24V too. Neil starts his big OS stuff ok. Roger

Yes, the number will be different for each meter.

I have not ordered a new piston/sleeve/rod for my O.S. 91. I'm trying to decide whether to just use that money toward a big block CMB....

Has me wondering what the squish is set at on Neil's 67. My starter batteries are 7 amps per battery. My Macs were nastier to start than the CMBs.

Hey Guys,
One of these days I'm going to make it out to Stoney Pond. I went to Buffalo this weekend for the Bills game and ran FE with some of the guys from the area on Sat. Weekends like that don't come around to often. I thought I would share a few videos.
This is my buddy's Phil Thomas Hydro running 6s. He's go a new custom turn fin that seems to be working very well:

This one is my friend John's carbon fiber 36" cat with twin counter rotating outrunners. He's still got some tweeking to go.

Hope to see you all soon.

Neil,
Roger may have squish guage you could borrow. A lot easier. I am betting it is set tight with the amount of power it is putting out. That engine would be murder in a rigger.................

Bill I was thinking a .45 short kit from Zippkits and my .67 CMB until I seen that Video of a .45 running. that's crazy fast. I'm not to sure I want to go that fast. At least with a gas rigger I can go off pipe and get back on, not so with nitro. The .45 kit is 1/2 done. the gas rigger I'm working on the tub.

Neil,
Do some research on Jim's before you build. Some folks shimmed the strut in addition to toeing in the right sponson to stop the right pulling. Nice rigger if you can rid of the bad habits. Other folks added 1" sponson ride pads to improve performance. A little reading may save you some frustration. These boats will run 70+ and the right pulling makes them very difficult to race with. 2718/2 (no lift) really made it cook..............

Neil, Here is one thread to look at for tuning the JAE gas riggers.

http://www.jrcbd.com/showthread.php?t=51968&highlight=handling

Seems like it's all in the turn fin, rudder, and prop selection for the JAE riggers....

Neil,
I tried the stock trun fin as well as the Accu-tech and a heavy modified Dick Tyndall (Virginia Craftsman) turn fins. All pulled to one degree especially the stock one. Enjoy the reading because that guy ended up selling his.

I found it interesting that Rod G. said they stopped testing the prototype gas JAE once they hit 70 mph with a stock engine.

The JAE design may run too free in the water for gas engines. It may need more than just a rudder out back to counter the prop walk. Did anyone try adding a left turn angle in the strut similar to what the Seaducer monos have?

Just thinking out loud.

Neil, Tell me more about those NiMh cells. Was that just sitting alone or was it in a vehicle? The only time I have seen them go off on their own is if the shrink wrap was abraided and the cells were allowed to short on a metal surface. The old NiCd's and NiMh's actually do vent with a pop or 'explosion'...LiPo's will actually burn like a flare with a LOT of heat (usually more dangerous). Roger C.

They were just setting there. No warning no smell until the explosion. On a wooden table the wrap was vented or not fully wrapped.

Neil, Put a Novarossi .46 in your JAE 45 and it will be faster than your gas JAE. That gas stuff is just too hard to tune....

My .21 JAE comes off pipe and back on just fine. Just keep the pipe a little long, the prop a little small, and the engine mostly stock.
