I was there for the maiden voyage. Everything went well for several laps and then the wind blew the boat off the water. A strut adjustment is most likely needed. After that, I left to go back to work, only because it was way too cold! I took video with Rick's phone. I'm sure he will share.

 love it!!! thanks mike (b-dog) craig (blackout) and even old friend Mark Smith..(Joe he has a gas heli for sale... i will get info and hook you guys up!)for the help and support!! after the Bullitt , I had the JAE.21 in water a few times(thaats part of the reason i am liking the gas..) picky and couldnt get it to run right, but b-dog got some exersize in the kayak retrieving my boats!!thanks mike!
Like craig said a few adjustments and she will run real good...here it is, thanks everyone for the intrest in "project hydro" and bearing with me and all my pics!

Did you check the engine for water and refire it before putting it away?? Those crankshafts get rusty pretty quick. We are going to need multiple heats if everyone show up with their T-Boats this year!!! Great job. Roger C.

thanks Roger!! it was on plane at idle,lol.....as it came on the pipe i could feel it go!! that was never over half throttle. it was on a upwind run at halp throttle just on the pipe when it did the blowover... yup.. the rudder pushrod came loose on impact, other than that no damage..(glad it broke loose then and not running..lol.. yup, flipped it over, drained it out, pulled plug,torned it upside down and cranked it over and got water out... put plug back in and ran a bit till warmed up again.. that enough??
thats it.. hook line and sinker... I think I am hooked on gas

Most likely your .21 ran bad because of the cold. That engine should be quite reliable once it warms back up. Don't give up on nitro yet.

Thunderboat is going to be a killer class next year!! Should make for some good videos.

Status: offline 		Keep the strut at exactly 1 inch and flat on the table.
Make sure that the boat balances on the main bulkhead (sponson transom) and not behind with no fuel.
Elongate the small hole in the turn fin and start pulling the bottom back 1/16 at a time. That will calm it down.

That Zipp Super tuned pipe hits pretty hard, even on a stock engine...

Is it me, or did the boat look pretty quick at part throttle?

I may have to retire mine... Just sayin...

Overall, an excellent maiden voyage! They don't usually go that well...

The guy that designed the Bullitt Thunderboat may be an idiot, but he is not stupid...
Keep it per the directions first. Once you optimize that setup, then change things and see what happens. You may be able to improve something, but you need a baseline first.

From the Bullitt manual:

Center of Gravity
The CG is very important.
The CG is at bulkhead 3.
Check the CG with everything installed and no fuel in the tank.

To check the CG, pick the boat up with one finger on each side of bulkhead 3.



You want the boat to balance level at bulkhead 3 or slightly nose down.
This is critical. If the CG is any farther back, the boat will blow off the water at high speeds, as well as “hop” in the turns.

LOL... I asked Tom if he wanted a submarine when he said to put a pound of lead in his nose.... I had decking on one all ready so his got the lead and epoxy tolaling 1 lb. his only needs a little bit more in nose for him to ballance... I guess it averages out about the same... OK Tom, your not crazy!!!.. I knew i would have to add weight but it was too late to put in sponsons like his... it ballances now... dont let me hit your boat cause the bow is re-enforced with lead... going to re name it the lead sled!!! LOL.. JUST SAYIN!!!!! thanks Joe, I read that about C/G in manual,just didnt want to wait till spring. Next time I will be able to open er up!!!!Actually the cowl change probably took weight off back and moved it forward...with driver in front of engine and extra weight of scoop and cockpit.the little piece of 3/32 ply in back for a tail cant add much weight
.Also not that i think you implied that i called the person who designed this fine boat stupid or a idiot...but to defend myself, I have never called anyone a idiot or stupid...LOL.OK thats it for now.

I was just saying that I have been there, done that. Thats why the manual says to do it.
Even with weight, the boat still comes in lighter than most other Thunderboats... Just sayin...

I am looking so forward to busting some chops in the spring! I think that we will have an excellent range of skill and talent in the SPMBC!
