Ya might even looka at the 65-75T to get more torque for crawlin' and scale speed.

Don't know if anyone is checkin this thread but....

Is the pinion on the TA01/02 Hummer specific to the model?

I am assuming any 32 pitch would work....I got a basket case in trade...without a pinion.

Thanks guys.

Im aware its an old thread but thought id share my exp for future viewers.

I recently revived my 14 yo Tamiya Hummer and i got the Ansmann 80Tx2 540 for it and theres no problem with the gears giving in or anything like that.
Its a 80w motor and with my 5300mah batts it runs for 20-40 mins depending on the load.

The motor is a 5300rpm @ 7.2v and that translates to a top speed of 6.2 mph or ~10kph, with a 16t pinion gear.
For pure offroad  with climbing dirtpiles its a good setup, but im considering giving up some of the torque in order to obtain more top speed.

By replacing the pinion gear with a 21t the top speed will increase about 30%, so im considering replacing the motor with a 550 to get more rpm while maintaining the nice amount of torque.

Has anyone here tried running the hummer with a 550 and how did it work out?

Personaly i have not tried this but You will probably need to make a custom motor mount becase the mounting holes o a 550 can motor are farther apart than on a 540. Again I haven't tried it so don't blame me if I'm wrong.

I will second this information, just to differentiate who knows what they're talking about from one who...well.....doesn't.

What motor are you planning on using?

And why do you need so much torque for that RC?

I appologize and will know for next time this question comes up. Didn't intend to ruffle any feathers.

No feathers here. Just thought I would point that out, as much for the OP as for you. Better to be informed!
