The 2nd Annual Fiber Art Texas IMAC Classic is going to be held on Aug 2-3 2003. Let’s see a show of hands of the people that are planning to attend the contest.

For those of you that have not been to the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome Airport you are in for a treat. You will fly from a wide-open 2600’ full-scale grass field. During down time you can browse through museums and get close up and personal with vintage aircraft and vehicles.

If we can get enough participation on Friday arrivals, we will try to get George Hicks put on a judging seminar on Friday afternoon.

Duane,
I plan on being there on Saturday, not to fly, but to offer to help with the contest, scribe, flightline, parking...whatever you need.

I'll be there

Got a new landing gear on the way. Graph Tech impressed me by sending me a new one without needing to send in or show pics of the separated landing gear.

I think there will be 4 of us flying from FW this time.
2 Basic
1 Sportsman (me)
1 Unlimited

John Braziel

And I will probably get there friday evening and get a flight or two in if the field will be open for flying then.

We are looking forward to the contest, and hope for a good turn out.

I am waiting for a new muffler because the original one "self destructed". Look at the picture. Have any of you ever had that one happen to you before? ow well.

Dan

As at every contest, the more help, the better. Kingsbury is a terrific morning field, so we will be running two flight lines to get as much use out of the morning as possible. I’m sure any help will be greatly appreciated. I hope I can repay you at Texoma.

John and Clint

Yes the field is open around the clock for RC as well as full scale. The full-scale traffic is minimal and you are likely not to see one all weekend. I will be there Friday morning working on field setup and getting everything ready for the weekend. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of the Friday practice session; we only ask that all pilots have a spotter to watch for full-scale aircraft.

Brian,

Hate to hear about the muffler problems, you missed a great contest at Abilene. I hope everything falls into place and you get to make Kingsbury.

Clint

I understand now what you mean by “flying in” on Friday. You can check out all of the field information at http://www.vintageaviation.org/aerodrome/index.html

I had that happen to a muffler on a g-38 years ago. The crack started at the toe of the weld. The failure mechanism was a brittle fracture cause by improper welding procedure (inter-pass temps were too high and travel speed was too low). In other words, send it in and they better replace it free.

Last year they did a great job af reminding everyone to stay hydrated. Extremely important for the heat and humidity

Great News:

George Hicks is going to put on a judging class for the Friday arrivals. I recommend that everyone take advantage of this opportunity, as it will greatly enhance the ability to judge as well as fly the sequence. This class will take place in the afternoon between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Saturday:
The pilots meeting will be at 8:00 and flying will commence at 8:30. The morning hours are very valuable at Kingsbury and the goal is to get all pilots through 3 rounds before the sun is directly in your eyes.

Registration is $30 for IMAC members and $35 for nonIMAC members. The registration will include two meals.

Daniel,
Too bad you wont make it, you flying in nothing less than awsome(canister mufflers would put your scores over the top), BTW nice report on the Abilene IMAC. I probably wont be able to make it either, family matters, too bad I was looking forward to helping/learning as well as hitting the riverwalk Saturday night.

This field is the perfect location, secluded, but near San Antonio...It dont get better than that
