got the rest of the top half of the fuse sheeted and planked and am gonna be doing the tailfeathers next. I forgot to vector a couple parts for the stab because they were hidden in a cross section but I will be cutting them out and getting going. I will take tomorrow off and jump on my FW's sunday to hopefully get that blasted tail retract done then i can sheet them. I wil;l be prob bouncing back and forth between the spit and FW's every other day that way i get a break on each plane so i force myself to take time to relax and think abt the next steps so i dont screw something up.

On the stab I am not going to use Mick's flat hinges as I want them to look scale. Mick has the locations right for scale but I cut the area out for the flat hinges and filled with balsa so I can use hingepoints. That will give me the closest look to scale. Well thats the update.

Hi,

On your rudder page are pictures with a metal band on the rudder?
What materiaal is that and why do you do it that way?

Hi Tom yes there is 1/8" aluminum tubing on the TE of the elevators and the rudder per mick reeves plans. I am assuming it is because the real; plane the tailfeathers were made from tubing and so when fabric covered would give a nice scale effect. it was a pain to do it until i figured out to tape it on in several places then glue it and it really does give it a scale look.

well i thought I would post a few pics here. I have half a wing framed up and only lack the other half and some sheer webs then they will be ready for retracts and sheeting. This plane builds light strong and fast. I started it last weekend and it should be up on its own legsd next week if things work out. I talked to Darrell yesterdayt and he was wanting to ship them out today so wont be long now. Just have to wait for sheeting to come in as LHS was out hehe I keep running him out of balsa even though I mail order most of mine from BUSA i still have to hit him up a lot.

Well guys since tomorrow is the 1 week anniversary of the start of construction on this project I thought I would take her outside for a photo shoot heres some pics for ya to gaze at notice it doesnt have that ugly pointy tail remember now the fuse is just sitting on the wing and the tails just sitting on the fuse so they may look a little funny but it is for size ref and overall 1 weeks worth of work.

Well I just ordered 40 sheets of 6"x3/32x36" balsa for sheeting this beast so having sent priority so by tues or wed i should be finishing sheeting the fuse and working on sheeting the wing. (if my retracts make it early in the week).

This weekend i will be in and out of shop sporatically as i now am where I can get started on my cockpit tub. As many of you have emailed me asking when I will be completing my article on that you can keep your eyes open as that is what I will be spending this weekend on and that is doing some more cad designing and starting to build it.

For those of you used to messaging me while im in the shop on cam I have another yahoo messenger id I use when I am in the office it is COMPLETELYSCALERC you can add that to your messenger and send questions through there if you dont see me in the shop. I really enjoy all the questions and chitchatting as i build because as some of you know you have saved me from going too fast and making a mistake or have answered questions i had. I really love building with the cam as even I have questions and I can just turn the cam around and show you my problem areas so you can visualize it. Thanks again for the support and help.

Joe
