Thanks you guys.  Ernie, I got that idea from the Bros.  I made a mount for my camera on a bike helmet.  It took a little practice to get the angle right, but its better than bugging my friends to film me...
The other plane is a Twist 60
I made the clip of the AW because I figured folks would want to know it had decent harrier characeristics. I'll try and do a regular vid of it when I get teh 55 on and broken in.  I pulled the 61 last night so I'm halfway there!

Here are videos of each size. Both fly very well.

Nice flying Jason. I'm looking forward to getting another one, if Aeroworks will finally send it. I'm not sure what the hold up is. I ordered it last Friday and still haven't gotten any email saying it's been sent.

you ordered another one?  Good for you!

I mounted my 55.  I had to move the rx pack to get the cg right but lateral balace is fine.  I took off the wheel pants and the SFGs.  Now it looks more like a profile and less like a clown

I ran the 55 in the yard for a couple of tanks.  Looks like it will be a sweetheart.  Even during breakin it pulled hard!
I'm not sorry I tried the 61 first.  Even though t didn't work out I would have always wondered.

Yep, ordered another one. I got a hold of Aeroworks and it sounds like they have been real busy trying to get orders out. Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

Your 55 sounds like it will work out fine on there. What size prop will you be using?

I'm going with the 12.25  3.75
I know lots of guys say use the 13-4, but my 75 AX really settled down and began to run right when I reduced the prop size a bit.  The static pull in the yard even quite rich was very impressive.

Dave, the 55 has some stump-puller characteristics and I think you'll wind up with a 13" prop on it. (I think it has variable cam timing.... Also doesn't a larger diameter prop = more stable hovering and harriers? I know what you mean about the 2 strokes getting up into the power curve sometimes though.

Hey Ernie, Yeah, I got the second one done and maidened it yesterday. Probably the one trick that stands out is that with all the parts from the first one, the second one went together even faster. The landing gear, tail wheel, and some other things were already done. !! It went together very quickly. Flys good too. Other than that, the build is pretty simple and straight forward.

Great Rob! Didn't take you too long to get this one going. What do you think of your 120 AX on there?

Thanks Ernie, I haven't flown it enough yet to get an impression of the 120. It doesn't seem to be too much weight on the front, it balances well and I put a 16x4W APC on it since that's what I have. It definately isn't lacking any power.......

Hello All,

I am building the 40-60 size profile and have a question, is anyone else not comfortable with hard mounting the Hitec mini servo used for the throttle, to the fuse? These servos don't come with grommets, should I hard mount it or try and make my own grommet arrangement? Never used such a small servo on a nitro plane before, makes me a bit uneasy. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Tony

I used one that is a little bit longer and cut out a bit of the slot to put it in and then added some wood behind it to put the screw into. I didn't know what else to do since the LHS was out of the suggested servo.

Did you use any grommets, or was it hard mounted to the wood ?

Tony,
I used the recommended servo and just put a grommet from another servo underneath each screw.

Just put a piece of fuel line under each end of the servo and run the screw though it. This should give it a little dampening.

I used some grommets that came with it. The stock set up is kind of odd. There must not have been any room to run the wires back to the wing area inside the fuse, either that or is was an after thought. It's not too bad though having to run the wires on the outside of the fuse and then up through the wing. I just don't like the way it looks. I like the way the plane flies though.

Yea I was not to keen on the external servo wire either, I have already created a hole in the fuse to run it internally to the wing. And the
use of a mini servo ? what's that all about? Kinda of expected a little better from AW, but hey you say it flies well, then thats good enough for me. Thanks for your input, looks like I will be coming up with some kind of grommets for the Hitec servo..

I needed a replacement for my OMP 40 size yak and the Extra 260 looked like it would fit the bill. I placed my order from Aeroworks on Monday and 4 days later there it was sitting on my porch begging to be assembled.
From my OMP yak, I had left an Os 55ax, battery, rec., 4 hitec 645 mg servos. All I needed was a mini servo for the throttle (Died in the crash). So after a trip to the LHS I started on my new plane.

I gently ripped open the box and inspected the contents, it was packed very well and I found no damage anywhere. There where quiet a few wrinkles over the entire plane, so about an hour later it was about 99% wrinkle free. Pretty much followed the instructions as they are written and had no problem putting everything togather. I am not real thrilled with having only 1 bolt to hold the wings togather, but what can you do. I used all the supplied hardware except the tail wheel, (I had a sullivan left over from the OMP crash) so I used it instead. If I had to point out 1 thing I absolutely did not like about this plane, it would be how the wire from the throttle is ran under the outside of the wing. (Why not make a channel for it like the rest of the wires?)

Now its time to balance the plane, at the recommended cg of 4 1/8" the plane balanced tail heavy. I had to add 4oz to nose and half an oz for latteral balance. Total build time was around 6 hours so not too bad.

For the maiden I put on the side force generators, since I have never had a plane with them. I taxied out on the field, lined it up and away it went. I immediatley had to add 8 clicks of up elevator to level out the nose, lateral balance was perfect. Made a few passes and landed to remove 2 of the 1/4 oz weights, took off again and was expecting to adjust the elevator trim but it didn't change. So next time out I will take another 1/2 oz off to see if it makes a difference in trim.
When it come to the landing characteristics of this plane, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. As I made my landing call I started a new pass and was bleeding of speed, as i lined up with the runway and continued to drop the throttle the nose started to rise higher and higher at 1 point it was not making anymore forward progress. It almost appeared to come to a full stop with the nose pointing up about 45 degrees. I Throttled up and went around again, this time I kept a little more throttle as I came in, the nose still rose up but not quite as bad and it made a perfect 3 point landing.
I made 4 flights on it today and plan on going out again tomorrow, so if you have any suggestions for the couple of problems I encountered I would be very thankful.

Reported my finding to Aeroworks and they replied:

It sounds like your ailerons may not be perfectly centered, with the SFG bolted in place to the trailing edges of the ailerons line up with the center of the SFG? If the ailerons are in a down position it can cause the characteristics you are describing.

I like to center my ailes with a rubber band. I stretch it over the wing and measure the gap on top and bottom. Having the SFGs may make this a mute point but not all planes have them.
