I am installing a Dynamic Balsa cockpit in my Ziroli Dauntless. Neither Ziroli's, or Dynamic Balsa's, instructions give you a clue when to install the cockpit and how much of the substructure, if any, needs to be cut away. Anyone done this project, or one similar, who can give me some guidance?

I built a Ziroli Dauntless and used the Dynamic cockpit kit. Found it necessary to cut and fit most of the pieces individually. On my latest Stuka using the Dynamic kit also I planned ahead and started installing the foor and dash etc. while building the fueselage. Much easier but takes some planning. Came out great. On the dash I glued it to the former as I was installing said former and so on. John N

Do you remember if you had to cut the formers on the Dauntless? I am thinking like you to just set the dash before any stringers are added then add the floor after stringers since it looks like the formers are going to have to be cut away. I am going to give Dynamic Balsa a call this morning to see if they have a recommended installation sequence.

Yes I seem to recall cutting off a former. Fit the floor after you have installed just enough stringers to hold the shape of the fuse. Since the upper cockpit floor will be ommitted I added several Bass wood stringers around the cocpit top for strength and also to attach the canopy pieces to. I had installed the canopy in 3 pieces so it would be open. Needed something to put small screws into . John N Will e-mail photos they are too big for this site
