Status: offline 		Looking for a "smallish" twin-engine warbird. Something in the .40 size or so. Would like to use a couple Saito .72s

Doesn't seem to be a big market.

Any suggestions?

Status: offline 		I just saw the B26 on the Easy Tiger website, it looks good, but I don't want that size of plane these days.
The Hangar 9 B25 is an excellent model, you can't go wrong.
I saw a ASM P-61 at a meet last weekend, it flew good.
I had a VQ models A-26, run away from that, it was a disaster.
I think that's about the only twins in that size, but maybe others know more.

Status: offline 		The TopFlite B-25 would be better off with .82 to 91 4 strokes.

For .72 4 strokes, the H9 B-25 is the best bet......BUT...there is also the CMP Mosquito.

Status: offline 		Messerschmitt Me-110 Twin With Retracts seems the best so far. Damn, it looks pretty nice. I wish it cost 350 dollars and not 500.

Status: offline 		I have the 96" KMP Bf-110 and it is a sweet flying plane with two Saito 100's at 22 pounds. I have seed the Don Smith Bf-110 at 118" fly on rails.

Status: offline 		World Models sells a .40 size F-82 Twin Mustang that flies well. Check out Airborne Models in Livermore, CA. They have a website. I have experienced good customer service from them.

Status: offline 		I also have the ESM 95" ME-110. Two saito 72's are too small for it, but two 91's would fly it decent enough. It costs $419 ...less then the smaller 72" Easytiger...but not with retracts...thats another $199.

Specs list two 91 4 strokes.

I also forgot about the 83" ESM Tigercat. Spec's list 91 size 4 strokes, but with an 83" wingspan, im not sure thats required since the much larger ME-110 specs list the same motors. You'd want to read threads about it first to see what others have used successfully.

In any case...if your using two glow motors, they both MUST have onboard glow. Id also recommend either having the onboard glow on ALL the time to prevent a motor quitting in flight or use a twinsynce device. Some ppl use a gyro on the rudder instead of a twinsync, but the gyro only effects the rudder in case an engine dies, the twinsync monitors both engines and if one dies, it'll automatically dial the running engine back to idle to prevent the plane from being pulled into a spin due to asymetric thrust

Status: offline 		How bout a Royal B-25 kit ...oh gosh i said the "K" word didn't I?

It's a great for your application as it was designed around .40 2 strokes with a 76" wingspan.

Very scale and you would get serious props from the scale guys at your field. They don't make them anymore, but there are lots to be found on RCU or Ebay. You can get plans, cowls and canopy on Ebay as well.

P38's dont fly well with one engine out. I would go electric if i wanted a p38. Gas maybe, glow no way...

Nitreoplanes still has them. However, they arent as cheap as they usedw to be. When I got mine from them last year, the plane only costed $199.

Status: offline 		One problem I might run across is the nacelle-to-fuselage distance needs to be to at least accommodate a 12" prop. Will probably use 12x8 three blades for the Saito 72.

Was going to dip my toes into twin-engine with the Hobbico Twinstar but I do not think the 72's will fit.

The DC-3 would be lovely.

Status: offline 		Yeah. Ive flown it 3 times. Did a nice formation type flight with Chris's esm B-25. Like scale, my cmp mossie was quite a bit faster then his b-25, but together in close formation...they really looked good.

Ive got 13x8 3 blade props on my mossie. Due to the length of the .91's, I just had enough clearance to fit them, however, a saito 72 with 12x8x3's would fit no problems.

Status: offline 		If you're going to do a twin...come on man, you gotta do a military plane.

To be quite honest...the hangar 9 b-25 would be absolutely perfect for twin .72's. A nice 80" wingspan with pretty scale looks. Also, the BH A-26 is a nice looking plane and designed for .52 4-strokes. 72.s would also work quite well, though Id paint the plane black.

Status: offline 		An nice old man at my club has had the TF B-25 for 3 years and all he's done is hinge the surfaces so far. He also bought the Robart retract set for it. He probably has 1000 or more dollars in those two items alone. He wants to sell it to me, but we'll see what he'll take for it.

If it's too much, I will buy the CMP Mosquito and try to fit some HK electric retracts with some robo struts I have.
