True, but they dont make them anymore, right?

True, but if ya really want one, get it in parts for around $420.00+
When new, they were $150.00 as H9 phased the out.

I got mine last December dirt cheap.....PLUS 2" of dust, no charge.

Lots of 3DHS planes in our club. We have sponsored their July fun fly for a few years now.

EF has one plane - the 70" Extra for the DLE 30. Just not a lot of choices for the 20cc market right now. Hopefully next spring we'll see as many offerings for the 20cc as there are for the 30cc.

Yeah - I see your point...most of the bigger 3DHS planes would need a DLE-30 or bigger, and the smaller ones are really designed for electric power.  Hopefully you are right and we will see more options in the spring for the DLE-20!

I'm in the market for an aerobatic 20cc plane but the Velox is out of stock. Heard of anything else like the Velox that I can take a look at?

Thanks for the links but local pickup only. I could buy one for the price of the gas it would cost to get it!

Nice planes though.

Any old guys here?? . I just ordered an Ibis 120 for my spare DLE 20. Looking for suggestions on an old man's (read slower) model for the DLE 20. Waiting for aother Rascal 110. It was perfect for me. Thanks Brian

I think you would like the Bruce Tharpe engineering Flying King. I have one with a Saito 82 on it and it is a fun plane to fly. Find at http://www.btemodels.com/flyin_king.html hope this helps.

If you want a ARF try the telemaster from hobby lobby int http://www.hobby-lobby.com/srtele_arf.htm. They also have other slow flying planes. Had a friend with the Telemaster Senior and he would get it in a slow circle and set the radio on the ground next to his chair and just watch it fly.

If you want other suggestions let me know.

Yea, the ''and a lot more money'' part is what gets me. Seems like the more money I pay for an airframe, the shorter its lifespan. So by my scale, a $400 airframe probably wouldn't last me much past the maiden. I've got a $50 plane, that has a life like the Energizer Bunny.

Man, ain't that the truth!

I had a Velox but like the 65" Vyper a lot more w/ the DLE-20

http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=14314

as far as slabs

The Valley View's and Aerowork's aren't near as much fun as the OPM 67" Fusion or Mojo 65 (if you want to build a bit). Flown them all.

i love mine!!! my brother and i both have one and tear up the skies.. the dle 20 on the VVRC "Hybrid" profile yak is a match made in heaven

i havent flown any other gas powered profiles...so i cant say much about the Mojo, but i hear its the profile king. i just dont like the looks of the fuel tank and ignition mounted externally

I see it as the AW PROX260 FreeStyle (90 size) as being my preferred one in that group. The OMP's I've had were good,
but the PROX260 is by far better & more fun!

Those I've seen posting about the VVRC profile state it as being a full pound heavier in AUW than the PROX260.
Still, the enclosed fuel tank is a nice trick.

Richard's upcoming creation should prove to be a top contender!

Hi guys,

I just saw this thread and did not realize it was sooooo long,so I did some fast reading and was wondering if anyone has tried this gasser a 2 meter pattern plane? Our max weight is 11 pounds.. Sorry if I'm re-asking someone else's question, to many pages to read on a lay over...

Scott,

Only a few have posted in this thread about pattern planes & the DLE20, mostly about servos, nothing on weight.

Maybe someone has one & might reply here -or- you could post over in.....
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_514/tt.htm
....and see if anyone there can answer your question.

Might also help if ya post what brand & model your dealing with.

Looking for some suggestions.

Have a DLE 20 mounted on a ProX260 profile from Valley View. The engine is mounted with the cylinder in the 3:00 position as viewed from the cockpit. The engine will run okay at higher rpm's regardless of the aircraft orientation, however, at lower rpm's (1/3 or less), the engine will die if the cylinder is anywhere from the 5:00 to the 11:00 position. It will also die if the plane is pointed downward. It slows down and almost dies if pointed straight up. The fuel system is new with viton in the tank with a walbro clunk. It has the same problem with a full tank of fuel and there aren't any bubbles in the fuel line. The jets are set correctly. If I richen up the low speed it makes a slight difference, but no where near being air worthy. I bought the engine new. Got it from Valley View so it has the right spark plug in it. It has 3 hours on it. It ran the first 3 hours with a loose throttle butterfly and an erratic idle. Don't know if that damaged the carb. It runs great about 1/3 throttle and higher. I have 2 other DLE 20's. I could swap a carb from one of them, but I was hoping to avoid removing the engine again from the ProX260 (did it enough times solving the loose butterfly problem). Are some of these carbs just bad from the start or is there something else to look for?

If there's a bright side to it, I've become the king of dead stick landings and the ProX260 is a blast to fly!!!

I've ready the manual and did a search of this thread but didn't find any specifics on how to properly break in this motor.  Maybe I wasn't searching with the correct terms.  Either way, could somebody point me to a post # within this thread or maybe another thread that provides the proper break-in procedure?  This is my first venture into fuel powered R/C and I want to make sure I get this right.

In case your wondering, I'm putting this in a Pulse XT 125.

First thing to do is read post #1 on this thread which has a great summary of the rest of the info.
then search the thread using the words "break in"

I found a number of posts about break in procedures, including this one:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9863953/anchors_10130418/mpage_66/key_/anchor/tm.htm#

Hope that helps.

Thats exactly what I was looking for.  My problem was I was using "Break-in" & "break in procedure" but never tried "break in".

And I've read that first post a dozen times; each time learning something new.  I just wish the hyperlinks would work for me.  None of the links to RCU content work.

Thanks!!

I have a DLE20 mounted in a TWM Spot On 1.20. The airframe itself is a little overweight and the pipe is a heavy one but the plane has more than enough power for even an Advanced schedule. I am now looking ahead to a Taiji or Neptuno with a ZDZ40RE. The Spot On weighs 9.4lbs so performance with the 20 is very good. A full 2x2 may be just too much weight and drag to fly anything more complex than Sportsman.

Btw; I created that Recap of the DLE20 thread, imbedded into msg #1, and I just checked, all links work fine.

Re: double posts. If you mean that you are informed of new posts in strings you are subscribed to on multiple occasions, I've been screwing with that for quite a while. The only thing I've found that will fix it (sometimes only temporarily though) is to unsubscribe from it for a couple of days. That seems to clean out the pipe line, then you can re-subscribe. As far as what's causing it? No clue. I've cleaned out all cookies, temp. internet files, etc with no luck. Happens using IE or Firefox.

Glad you found this info helpful.  Unfortunately some of the links do not work correctly; if I remember correctly, RCU went through some changes (new owners, I think) during the development of this thread, and some of the links just simply don't work anymore.

Regarding search terms, I've found two things that help me:  "less is more" and "keep it simple"
Hope that helps you too.

Has anyone tried the Profile muffler Valleyview RC sells? If so how did it effect peak RPM, Idle, and noise DB.
