One thing again I'd like to ask, and I asked earlier and was not answered.

Which synthetic oil is good for DLE20, Klotz, Red Line, Stihl or Pennzoil. Can anyone tell me the specifications or which one to be bought other than Klotz, as I'm already using Klotz and do I gotta stick with it?

Thanks

Mody

I run DLE 20's, 30's, a 35 and a 55. I use 32:1 in all of them and have never fouled a plug, either. I have used only 87 octane, though 89 is fine if it makes you feel better. Keep in mind, all of my engines spend most of their time at or near full throttle because they are all in warbirds except for a 30, which is in an RV-4 and flogged just like the rest.

Those are all good ones.

I would not switch around to different brands. They require re-adjusting the needle valves sometimes.

rcguy59 and w8ye

Thanks a lot guys for the answers, I got all answers for now . I've installed it in my Yak 54 120 from nitroplanes, ain't a warbird.

The warbird I want for my Xmas gift is Seagull Model Dewoitine D.520 and get another DLE20 on it

http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/SEA2580. I love P51 Mustangs, but I've found to be the best replacement of Mustang!

Though I'm not connected with ValleyView RC, I fly with them and belong to the same club. They have used Stihl HP Ultra for as long as I can remember, with excellent results, and continue to recommend it. The 30:1 oil mix ratio is for those using the Metric system. Those of us who still think in ounces find 32:1 easier to deal with. The engines don't seem to care one way or the other.

I stick with 32:1 ratio, I like Oz. better it's more easy. Probably the next DLE20 I'm gonna use Stihl or Red Line. I gotta get to know this DLE20 first with Klotz then think about something else.

The instructions I received indicated 40:1 oil. As far as more oil.....less wear and tear - right?

For the DLE 20 you had best use the 30 or 32:1 ratio or face possible trouble with the rod.

If you have a DLE30 or larger, 40:1 is fine.

W8YE  mite as well just  stick with  32 / 1   like you said !!!

why have 2 tanks of gas to carry around with you !!!!

less chance on making a mistake       that mix  wont hurt a thing   (   KISS  )   (  KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPED )

is a good rule to go by   O  I am not calling any body       STUPED       dont need to open that can up  !!!!!

as long as a person is using a GOOD graid  oil   thay  should not  have  any truble

DONT NEED TO HAVE  A    OIL   FIGHT !!!!              R/L

 Hi guys

I am having issues with my DLE 20. I have run about 3 litres through it and had it running perfectly. I had to remove the tank to lengthen some tubing and since then it just wont run properly. I can get it started, idles for a while, but then wants to quit. I have tried every needle adjustment possible but still it does this. It also get flooded all the time. I remove the plug and its drowning in raw fuel. Any ideas?

I have taken it off my airframe and have it hooked up on a test bench. Suppose I could close the needles completely and see if it still somehow manages to draw fuel....

Time to take apart the carb. Seeing as you messed with the tank, it probably got something in it that is clogging an orrifice or jet.

All I did was rearrange some tubing on the tank but who knows...I think you are right in saying its time to take the carb apart and have a look.

Also possible that you have a vacuum leak somewhere in that new \ moved tubing.

For those of you that desire to correct that annoying timing curve here's the cure, and the price is right. I installed this on my Mojo 65/DLE 20 and it worked great. No more funny business on the lower RPM ranges! Ignition is RCEXEL with a "Paragon" sticker on it, unknown what model, but I suspect it's 01 (for 50cc RCG engines) .

Highly possible actually as I had to lengthen the filling tube by adding another piece of tubing by using a metal joiner used for filling applications which came with my hand pump. etc. I doubt this is made for being under pressure and may be causing a vacuum leak to be honest. Will replace with one piece of tubing and see. Must be this as it is the only thing that I changed.....Will keep you posted!

wesjon - Unless absolutely necessary get rid of joiners. And use them only if they have barbs on each end. I used to use a fueling port - but it leaked air - got rid of it.

I read somewhere to use dino for the first few gallons before using Synthetic in these. I dont remember where I read that though or I would linky it.

jonp, is that out of the US warehouse?

acdii... No, it's from the international section. As far as I can tell, the US warehouse does not stock parts of any kind. I just found this ignition while searching for something else.

That is correct. The lubrication and scavenging qualities of Dino (mineral) oil are better - provided used in 1:32 or 3% mix NOT less.
After the engine is run thru few gallons of this oil and mix, one could shift to synthetic and use it in lower ratio 1:40 or 1:50.
But if the field you fly from is dusty (like in India for us) or hot - use dino oil @ 3% - your engine will be happiest....

Why skimp on the oil?  Oil good, dry bad.
