I finally stripped my plastic servo that came with my MX-3 that is in my XXXS. What is a good affordable metal gear servo for stock racing?

Interesting, when I was at teh LHS, they pushed Futaba and Airtronics and they were around $90 and up. That HiTec is only $40 and is all metal.

What about the torque and speed ratings?

Well BB, i own abput 12 of the highend servos I love them!
But if you want to save money go with Hitec. I really don`t care about cost of servos, so thats why I choose Sanwa/Airtronic.
Maybe he is trying to explain that the sevo is a good quility and it will last longer then Hitec ( well you get what you pay for ).
But in your case go with a Hitec because of its low cost.

Don't misunderstand me, if I need to spend $90 to get a good reliable and fast servo, I will do it. I bought a Futaba 9405 for my XXXT-MF and seems to be fine. I just don't have anything to compare it to except for the cheap ones that came with my MX3.

The hitec has worked well on my car for the last 3 months. It has saved me at LEAST 3 sets of gears. Almost everyone with a MT is upgrading their servos, and I believe they usually upgrade to the Hitec. I have heard no complaints yet!

Well if you like you can go with the Airtronics one. If you can afford it do it.

I have a hitec hs-625MG on my pro2 that has lasted about 2 years. It still works perfectly. On my xray i have a hs-5925 thats been on it for about 7 months. Its incredibly fast and has excessive torque.

If you can afford the investment then a high end KO servo will last you for a very long time.

I think ive had my 1001 for 5 years now (maybee more) and it still works great and is just as fast as anything else.

I also have a 2024 digital (I think thats the right number, not 100% sure) thats an awesome bit of kit, some people dont like digital servos but in a tourer its fantastic.

There expensive but well worth it IMHO.

Hitec and jr have had problems with returning to center. I have am hs-645 and a z590m and i see this on both of them. I stripped out penty of servos in my tc3 and finally bought a futaba s9405. it is metal geared, high torque an very quick and accurate. It made a big difference in my driving and I will go with Futaba from now on for my steering servo.
