Hi guys,

My O.S. MAX 15 FP ( not remote needle version) had been kept for more than 10 years , I seldom use it. Recently I oil it and wish to mount it in my Sig Wonder, but found that inner coating of the sleeve already peeled and lost compression. I can't flip start it, only can start with electric starter, and will not idle. needless to say, the top RPM isn't there at all.

I wish to rebuild it, but can't find any piston / sleeve set on market. can I use others piston / sleeve set in this engine? (maybe LA series?) anyone have experience with this issue?

It's obsolete, no parts, rare to find, even the LA is $27. Best bet is to buy another healthy one.

One from an LA might fit. I used an LA 25 P&L in my 25FP. I see they are in stock at Tower. You will lose one intake port but it will run OK.

I also think the LA one will fit.

Get a Thunder Tiger piston and sleeve from a GP .15. I have done it and it works. The TT Sleeve has a nickle plating twice as thick as the industry standard. You will see an improvement in longevity. Mine has already lasted longer than the original OS set.
