I have the opportunity to buy a Mr Darby kit that was issued by Dumas many years ago. It is complete and has the props and prop shafts with it. I have yet to see it but I would like to have an idea what a kit like this is worth. Does anyone have any ideas?

based on what i paid for my original Dumas kit back in 1980,

If it has the actual dumas name tag imbedded in the fiberglass, has all the wood and plans and instructions, and has the complete running hardware, the person who bought it new spent between $600 and $800 buying that, depending on when and where it was bought.

if what you are buying includes motors and gearboxes, the dumas motors and gearboxes add another $150 - $200 to the purchase price.

harbor models now makes that hull and a different set of decking and superstructure, and a different set of running hardware, and the costs for all of that is much higher:

Thanks for your reply. I am going to see it soon and will at least have an idea about what I should offer.

I have a 3/4 built Mr. Darby for sale that had the superstructure pilot house and mast damaged when shipped to me. I have the templates to make new parts and this boat comes with alot of accessories, such as sound module for a horn, Harbor models power panel, dumas 12 volt motors, plans, lights, etc. It is an all original Dumas Darby. I am not interested in it anymore and want to make room on my garage shelf. $400.00 for all. Southern California pick up so it won't get anymore damaged.

Hi guys,

The person who posted that message did so over a year ago. Try contacting them via (PM) private message and see if the boat is still available for sale.

Good luck

-Rich.

Hello Men,
I have posted a few times about my Mr. Darby being available. I guess it is time to get serious about selling it. This is an ORIGINAL Dumas kit, and Dumas hardware kit.
I have the main deck assembled, but none of the superstructure. I did install a Graupner bow thruster unit. This kit was started in 1993. It was BARELY started! It has been sealed in plastic and stored since then!
I am in PA, and will ship to a US address.
I have to get realistic, I won't finish this kit as I am very active in Airplanes.
If you're really interested I can get out my camera and send you pics.
$500 plus shipping should see it at your door.

My original posting about this is here:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10553605/tm.htm

No fooling around, this Tug has got to end up in someone's hands who will really build and appreciate it.
