How could it be a surprise....? He is CLEARLY out taking "snapshots" of the ones that support him.....! Hell, I'd rather see pictures of some planes, rather than a bunch of faces, that NO one recognizes. And BTW, where are his AVP's and the list that EVERY other VP list in MA...? He is the only one that chooses NOT to list his AVP's.

I don't know about anyone else, but $15,000 is a lot of money for WEEKEND travel, annually. I travel all the time for work and have a rather flexible expense account for business, and $15,000 is astronomical, for what the members get in return for their money. Guys, that's over 1200 clear, a month...HELL alot of modelers don't even make that much after taxes.....! Wish someone would pay my ASS to go out and take pictures on the weekend, for that TAX free amount. Old farts never die, they just start to smell......!

As long as VPs feel that the voices on various RC forums represent only a few malcontents then you will not see them here opening themselves up to questions. When they realize this is were the votes are generated or swayed maybe then, and only then, will they the feel it worth the risk. Based on the past they well reaize that their reelection is insured if they stay out of all discussions and pretend the internet does not exist.

Changing this perception is the challenge the members of this and other fourms face. 2004 could be the year that we make an example out one VP up for reelection then . . . Unless District VIII leads the way this year.

Guys, I agree w/ Keith... I've cc'd a couple emails to the club (I am tagged as both VP/Sec'y AND newsletter guy this yr) and actually got the feeling that a small minority get turned off by the whole drama. In talking to my flying pal (a 67 yr old Leader Mbr in AMA) we decided it was best to NOT crest so soon in our campaigning, but rather to save all our ammo thru the last 4-6 months prior to election time. Keith is right, BTW, about educating the HOW to send in a ballot. That's my 2 cents for today! You all enjoy the flying weather!

*edit job, 2 hrs later:
Saving ammo won't be much of a problem. I get the feeling there will continue to be a steady stream.

I have a question. Perhaps I am swayed by the posts here, but from where I am standing this Jim McNeil guy doesn't seem like a real stand up guy. I am in no way a political guy, and dont like politics. What I do enjoy is flying, and if for some reason that is threatened then I have to take action.
My question is this: Being I am not in District 5, can I vote for people outside my district? (I've never voted before)

No, you can only vote for or against YOUR District AMA VP. From everything I know about yours, he deserves your vote. That is my OPINION, yours may differ.

You also get to vote for various candidates for AMA EVP and AMA President. They are not on the ballot this year.

However the presidential election IS next year. There seems to be a tremendous amount of positioning going on in the camps of those expected by most to try a run for that office. Might be interesting if the same players who insist their team is not in that game were interested in demonstrating their integrity and honesty. Unfortunately for the AMA that does not seem to be the case as has been seen with the vain attempts at controlling the nominations process for the District VIII AMA VP slot this time.

I know I'm late on this forum but ...

I think we should have a "Hall of Fame-er'" as VP

Plus ... I learn a lot from his electronic articles in mags.

Cograts Tony errrr Mr. Tony Stillman (another future VP that I must show respect for along with Mr. Jim Branaum) ... and good luck with the election !

Can you tell me why you HAVE [SIZE=3] NEVER [SIZE=1]voted?

My goodness, guy, Please Vote for SOMEBODY! And get all ur buddies to do the same... We need to show AMA that we're interested in whats going on and VOTING is the very first step! If the AMA EC see that there are very few votes cast for any candidate, then that candidate-elect has no one (or very few) to accout to...(IF it really worked that way.) All it takes is a simple mark on the ballot AMA sends to you with your renewal and a trip to the mailbox. Postage is paid whether you send it or not! DON'T send it with your renewal, it goes to a whole different address!! The 'money takers' don't care to count ballots too!!

The "Money Takers" must destroy any ballots that arrive at AMA headquarters. That prevents any possible conflict of interest issues. Apparently 10,000 ballots ended up at AMA headquarters during the last election and were destroyed.

That's why it is very important to give equal time to telling people HOW to vote as well as WHO to vote for. . .

I don't have a problem with them destroying votes sent to the wrong place. If you're too stupid to follow instructions, you're too stupid to run the organization...

Ahh, does that mean you still have to earn your moniker?

The guy in my club with that designation ("Crash" took about 9 months to earn his 'tag'. You seem to be well ahead of his efforts.

That all being said, please vote properly (like send it to the accounting firm rather than Muncie) as everyone is urging you to. You are already active enough to have a clue.

Good luck with your choices.
