Hey! I'm rather new to this site, as well as the entire RC world. I just bought an HPI 1/10 Dash RTR Dodge Viper GTS-R Body
T-HPI955. It's my first RC. I thought i'd find a site that gave me a Forum to talk to others whom also own RC's. Anything i should know or do as a beginner?

Welcome friend. i am also new and got my first rc this past march. it is a 1/10th tamiya stadium truck. I Have recently installed a 23 turn kyosho motor because the stock 540 got something caught in it. i also recently bout an intellispeed 12t reversing ESC. I also ave a full set of ball bearings. Anyways make sure you know your car in case something breaks you can find the problem or at lewast know where the problem could be. Just make sure everything is running smoothly and make sure all the screws are tightened because RTR's may have loose ones. And of course anyone you talk to here will have and rc. DUH! Anyways have fun. R u planning to race?

Yeah i'm planning to race. Though i would like to make it run faster. It tops out around 15+ MPH. I havent actually gotten it in yet. It's shipping currently and should be here tomorrow or mon. Hence why i am trying to find out everything i need to now, that way when it comes in i'll be ready for it. Though you do realize that i know absolutely nothing about what you were talking about as far as the motor is concerned. If you have aim im me. My aol sn (aim sn) is xdarksouloffatex. So give me a message, it's easier talking about it in an IM then in a Forum.

Well motors come in a certain amount of turns ( mine is 23) The lower the amount of turns the faster the engine. Ball bearings replace the little plastic cheap bushings and ESC's are very important and have turn limits ( mine can handle down to 12T) . ESC's( electronic speed control) replace manual speed control that require servos and otehr interesting parts that don't work. So buy a good ESC you will be happy.
Remember to clean your engine after 5-10 runs to make sure it stays in top condition. Also drain your batts completly before u charge them .

I have no idea how many turns the HCI's Dash motor has. Though it is something i was looking into earlier this morning. After reading some other threads i found out about a motor's turns and speed. Though i didn't get anywhere, i'm still at square one. No-one has exact specs of the HCI Dash. The Dash, i think, has an ESC, though i'm not exactly sure if it does or not. Maybe you could help me out and see if it does or not, i haven't been able to really find out much about it. Though if it doesn't have an ESC i was looking at a Dynamite brand ESC earlier that looked rather nice as far as it's specs. So give me another reply. Later.

This might help:

"The Dash is powered by a 380 motor, and has a top speed of about half the speed of a competition-level electric touring car."

Do HPI run there own race series in the US, I think they did in the UK and probably still do.

Might be worth looking into.
