Status: offline 		Good job Jimmy. The flaps are very effective on this plane too. If the wind is 10 mph or greater, the flaps are not needed, or very little in your case. If less than 10 mph, I use about 25% flaps. Make sure the plane is retrimmed for the gear and flaps down at low throttle. It should only drop slightly. Use the throttle to control the descent and it will land nicely. Bomber Field event is Sept. 17th - 19th Hope to see ya'll there. Paul

Status: offline 		Thanks Paul, yeah the flaps were a great help! The first approach was no flap, the second was half flap, and the 3 and final approach were both full flaps. I need to reduce my elevator controls, my low rates are just under the manual settings for high rates and the high rates are max throws the surface will allow, this bird needs a soft ele on landings. On take off after the gear were raised, it needed 5 clicks down, 2 clicks left rudder, and 4 clicks left aileron. After that she settled down for flying. I also found the high rates with max throw to be the best for flying, the landings being a different story. Im going to reduce the elevator by 20% for starters and expos around 35%, then go from there. That will be a major change from where it is now. I was very timid to slow the plane down too much because I wasnt sure whether it would snap at slow speed, so the next flight will be 3 mistakes high, full flaps, gear down, and throttle at high idle then milk the elevator until it stalls to see what its going to do. I really think the plane will behave better than what I am expect. I havent seen yours fly but I have seen others on youtube and they look fairly stable at slow speed. Let me know if im on the right track here cause this is all hopeful thinking right now.

I thought (as an arm chair quaterback ) that your approach was too fast and too short , it appeared on 3 and 4 you were much further out as you started your decent , regardless ecah approach was not bad , and I admire your effort to get it perfact

Status: offline 		Thanks LDM, I over psyched myself for this plane, that's the reason for the high speed approaches. I haven't been this nervous in years, but I think the plane is going to slow down just fine once I get over my own mind game. It was nice to look at the video, Ive never had one to look at for a maiden flight before. you can really get a lot of info that you wouldn't have without the video. From what I could see, the plane is going to be more stable than what I was giving it credit for otherwise, it would have snapped or tipped during that little hop off the ground at slow speed. I'm going to take some of the toe in out, since it tried to nose over on takeoff and landing both. How is yours with low rates for landing? Do you have a lot of throw for landing? Im thiinking less for landings and lots for flying...any of you skyshark guys out there, Let me know what you are using for landing rates. Thanks

Status: offline 		Its all about the look Its a Skyshark model and comes with the camo scheme but with British markings. I found the full scale with the checkerboard tail on the internet and the camo matched perfect, so i had the graphics made, painted the tail and cut the cockpit open for a full cockpit, now I need to get some time on it in the air. Appreciate the comments.

Status: offline 		MUCH BETTER HEY WORK ON YOUR APPROACHES TO LAND IT WILL SETTLE IN NICELY AS LONG AS WINGS ARE LEVEL DURING APPROACH AT SLOW SPEED SHE WILL NOT FALL OUT OF THE SKY AND CHECK THOSE WOODEN WING DOWELS I PLAYED IT SAFE AND USED CARBON FIBER RODS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS BUT HAVE SEEN WINGS COME RIGHT OFF IN FLIGHT BUY USING THE WOOD DOWELS I CUT 2 SQUARES UNDER SIDE OF WING WICH EVENTUALY WAS COVERED WITH BELLY PAN AND SLID CARBON FIBER RODS THROUGH AND REINFORCED WITH BLOCKS AND GORILLA GLUE HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM AND SET YOUR EXPO TO 40% ON ELEVATOR REALLY SETTLES HER DOWN

Status: offline 		Chloe, are you using dual rates and if so how much throw? I set mine at max throw on high with 35% expo and manual recommended throw for low rates with 55% expo and she was pretty sensitive on the elevator. Should I reduce the throw on low rates, the manual only gives one rate and thats 3/4 inch on the elevator up and down.

Status: offline 		Its about time It looks great, are you going to clear coat with a Flatt finish? The panel lines look great. I saw Terry Farmer at the Warbirds over Tulsa flyin and he did a nice recording of my C47 in flight. We had a great time. My skyshark was grounded with a leaking main gear air cylinder. The bad part is that I sent the gear to Darrell at Sierra and found out that I sent the wrong main gear[>:] So, Im sending the malfunctioning gear tomorrow, shoot me in the head, one flight on this plane and Im going nutts to fly it again, and Im on vacation next week. The gear is going next day air. Post more pics of the Skyshark as you progress, looking forward to seeing more.

Status: offline 		Paul, thats beautiful!!! Looks like the G62 is going in? I got 7 great flights last saturday. the first two flights were very nice especially if you compare to the first flight, but the next five were perfect. I found the sweet spot with just enough up trim with full flaps and gear down with throttle a couple clicks above idle. She comes in and sets down on the mains then the tail sets down just as easy as you please then pull the throttle to idle. I love it. Thanks for the hot tips on the landings, they worked great. Keep the pics coming. Jimmy
