jctpro -> Any Info On The GMS 76 RINGED ENGINE? (4/8/2002 5:47:21 AM)

I am looking for a 75-90 engine for my TF P40 and the GMS 76 RINGED ENGINE looks interesting. Anyone try one? Do you know if there are pits mufflers available?

Any idea how good these engines run? I have not heard anything about this manufacturer before.

I have had 2, and had them for over a year before I sold them with the airplanes they were in. Both strong runners. I used a jtec pitts for the webra 120 on one of them. The only problem I had was one of the carbs got sticky after almostt a year and I had to take it apart sand with emery and reset everything. They like to run on the rich side. I allways thought they were almost as powerful as my OS 91fx

I have a GMS 47 that's a real stump puller. Take on an OS 46FX anytime. Just got a GMS 61 to take out and play. Maybe there's a 76 in my future.

A friend of mine has one one a spad. It hauls serious Butt. He had to silicone the back crankcase and under the carb. Because the motor was sucking air and wounldn't shut off. He loves the GMS, he is slowly making me a believer.

He also owns the GMS 47. Which is another great motor. He mainly flys spads. Both motors pull the planes out of sight, But I don't know how much they weigh.

SteveBoy-RCU -> Prop Size for GMS 47? (4/9/2002 3:45:39 AM)

I have the GMS 47 in a P-51 Kyosho and am about to test fly it. Noise is an issue at our field and I was wondering how it would cope with say a 12 x 6 prop or even a 11.5 x 7?

I normally run an 11 x 7 on an OS 46FX, but as the GMS appears stronger, I may be better to keep the revs down to reduce noise.

Interestingly, the mixture needle tunes out at approximatley 2.75 turns out for the standard muffler set-up, and when I replace it with an OS 46 FX muffler, 1.75 turns finds the sweet spot. The muffler makes a bifg difference in power and rpm (and noise unfortunately).

I plan to run it with the standard GMS muffler initially.

I have several gms motors and I have a ringed 76 on a 7.1 pound plane.
Pulls it outa site at half throttle straight up.
Great engine. I love it

I currently own 2 GMS .47's and a .61

The .75 is a strong engine with good transition form what I've seen. They can run right along side the O.S engines no prob.
I ran the .47 and a 46 fx on a tach with same prop/fuel and the .47 got 200 rpm more. The quality in O.S is hard to beat but for the money GMS engines are an excellent buy.

Would the TopFlight incowl muffler fit the GMS .76? Is the muffler bolt spacing the same as a SuperTiger G75 or OS .61FX?
